https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/sex-toilets-spray-water-alarm-cottaging-illegal-wales-porthcawl-a9063386.html

Porthcawl is investing £170,000 on toilets that will drench users if it senses violent movement or the weight sensors think two people are in there.

On the plus side, communal shower?

What about a fat person assisting a child? It's a daft scheme. So daft. I think if anything it'll encourage people to try and fuck without setting off the sensors.

If two light people go in and have gentle sex they might be able to avoid the shower.

I think the weight sensors have caused more concerns than the showers, or the plan for the alarm to go off to deter rough sleepers using them at night.

There are lots of situations, particularly with children, where two people might need to go in together.

It would be a challenge but I think if you get carried in you could lock on and possibly fool the sensors.

How long have toilets been sentient? Why don't they like sex?

"Bit OTT to stop it £170 grand better spent elsewhere "

I don't object to £170k being spent on public toilets - they are few and far between. I understand the self cleaning use of the showers but I suspect that will be faulty fairly soon after going live. I object to the sensors and alarm, which must add to the cost.

All that DNA and combining and flowing through them has led to them becoming sentient but with piss-poor views and shit for brains.

It certainly will be!

I don't know why it was reported in Andover before it was picked up by the nationals. That's bothering me.

They alarm will go off and when they come to arrest you they'll think the sensor is faulty. As long as you have flushed.

Many places have already done their best to make park benches even more uncomfortable by ensuring no can lay down on them.

I know. I think it's a cruel world that says the response to homeless is to make it impossible for the homeless to lay down, use a public toilet during the night and fine them for using a tent.

I think the chair could be a good way of getting two in (subject to weight) as long as the sex doesn't set off the alarm and water jets.

A terrible waste of public money that is probably not even because there's much of a problem but due to homophobia in all likelihood. I'm guessing it's not a gay sex mecca.

We're a weird species, using barbaric means to make public spaces unwelcoming, especially for the homeless, or those who are seemingly less than others. I'd be concerned if someone with disabilities, who needed toileting care, was deemed to be inappropriate for services that we fund for all.

I don't think it's a waste of money stopping people from having sex in public toilets.

Imagine if a child walked in on them.

I think there's nothing to see if anybody walks in, as they'd be in a cubicle - if anything, making cubicle use with privacy hard, it'll deter people from staying enclosed. I'm not sold on it being a big sex centre there anyway - the money may be better spent on homeless and gay sex venue facilities

Well I wouldn't want a child of mine walking into a public toilets where people are having sex, whether they can be seen or not.

I wouldnt like to see it myself. A public toilet is not a place to be having sex.

I think that means that they flush chemicals through the water systems that flush the whole unit.

With the lack of public toilet facilities in Porthcawl (a very busy tourist area) i’m sure folk will be too busy celebrating the fact they actually found a loo and making good use of it in the way they should, than to have sex in there!
