We all have our favourite songs etc, but there are a few that genuinely get me emotionally when they pop up on random play. For diff reasons two I can think of.

Family Life by The Blue Nile

Polaroid Picture by Frank Turner

What's yours and let's get all emotional together.

I always react emotionally to music, so the list is long!

But my number one, to the degree I mostly avoid listening to it (unless I want a good cry!), is Elgar's Nimrod.

There are many. As Frank Turner (kinda) sang, i believe there's a song for every time we've lost and everytime we've won

The ones that get me most (but this is an ever changing list) are Black Dog Day and Knights of the Round Table both by Gaz Brookfield, Demons by Frank Turner and Piece of Sky by The Wonder Stuff

Jerry Lee Lewis

Middle age crazy

I can remember listening to it when I was around 20 years old with my cousin one night in my dad's car. We were both wondering where we would be and what we would be doing when we are 40 years old.

I forgotten about the song until I heard it recently on the radio and the memories of our conversation came back.

We are both approaching 40 years old now.

There and to the left a bit

Music is an emotive thing for me - it can make me laugh, it can make me cry, it can make me just want to get up and dance and it can make me just exuberantly happy.

Presuming you mean the ones that can tug at the heart strings...two that spring to mind are:

Bell Jar - Louise & The Pins - never fails to get me right in the feels, particularly if I'm watching the video

My answer to this isn't an obvious song.

I had the soundtrack to the Phil Collins film "Buster" which features one song "big noise."

I can't listen to this anymore as it transports me right back to when I was told that my grandma had died in the late 90s.

Music by John Decca

My dad used to be an entertainer in a hotel in Cornwall and that was the song he always closed with.

He passed away five years ago this weekend, so that song has been playing a lot

In a town Fab forgot

Sting/Eric Clapton - It's probably me

Thin Lizzy - Still in love with you

Rose Royce - Love don't live here any more

Mike and the Mechanics - Living years

Thin Lizzy - Romeo and the lonely girl

Hazel O'Connor - Will you

Portishead - All mine

Tears for fears - Mad world. The line; "I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad, the dreams in which I'm dieing are the best I've ever had" always hits me like a hammer.

Any of those come on while I'm driving, it's time to pull over.

Sacrifice by Elton John.

It was always playing when I visited my baby son in the special care unit. I hummed along as I held him.

It's been 29 years since he died and I've not listened to that song since. A couple of years back it started playing in a shop and I had to leave: it surprised me how emotional I became.

I just called to say I love you by Stevie Wonder reminds me of my Auntie

Her husband had a heart attack and died at the top of the stairs the day after they'd returned from holiday

They'd spent the previous fortnight laughing, living it up and dancing to the song

She couldn't listen to it at all afterwards - if it came on she'd be in floods of tears

She's been dead 15 years too now, but when I hear it, my mind goes immediately to her

BTW if you want to be made to feel old, that song was released in 1984 - 35 years ago
