I'm not judging, I'd love to be totally obsessed with a topic and have a myriad of knowledge on hand and have intelligent debates and discussions with similar people on that topic but of all the 'nerds' I've met, seem totally infatuated with books or their subject of interest and I wonder are they interested in sex or do they get much of it? |

I'm coming to the opinion that 'nerd' (or 'geek') is a word used by people who feel threatened by intelligence and/or education to describe those who clearly, demonstrably aren't.

"As one you might consider to be a "book nerd" I can assure you I am interested in sex and I get plenty. "
It's not something I struggle with, even though I spend a lot of time with my nose in the book. I think the era of nerds being unable to successfully have sex/communicate with people is over. |

I'm a book nerd and proud! Guess what? I'm still interested in sex and I go to a swingers club and play! |

Is your question "Do people who like to read books also like sex?"
Or "Do people who like to read books not have much sex due to book reading?"

Suppose it's a very broad term 'book nerd' The stereotype is usually fairly accurate, someone socially awkward/shy, glasses, where's dark clothing and only seems to talk or think about a certain subject in great detail. I just think, do these people think about sex / do they get much of it? Anyways I'm also happy there's still people who are partial to reading books still! |

So you're really asking: Do socially awkward people have sex?
Dunno.
I like to read, but am not socially awkward.
Don't think the stereotype is playing out here in the forum... |

To qualify as a "book nerd", I think it's not really enough to be someone who reads. Even someone who reads a lot. To be a nerd you have to take it seriously, to have interest and knowledge well beyond the point that non-nerds in your chosen area of nerdery would consider normal.
Or is that a geek? I always forget which is which.
Anyway, it would only take one glance at my bookshelves to put me firmly in the nerd box.
And yes, I like sex. And yes, I indulge in it as often as I can. In and out of clubs.
It's rare that I encounter someone with similar literary interests, so it helps to be capable of other kinds of conversation. That might disqualify me from nerdhood, depending on your definition. |

Hello nerdy geek here! I love the details of something, generally across the arts, formula 1 etc. But I also love computers.
Message me if you're the same, sometimes I feel like I know too much, but not enough! |
