I'm looking at this picture, it's fucking awful, what on earth Marilyn and Elvis are doing god only knows.

Anyway... what's you're favourite piece of art? Can be anything you consider art, like a Stan Smith trainer, an erect penis, whatever

Quite sentimental really.

An artist painted a picture of our child, it’s stunning and wasn’t commissioned but she’d been inspired through a connection in the art world and a photo we had shared on social media. The painting was in some shows and then we bought it. It’s a piece that would’ve spoken to me even if it wasn’t my child.

Artist wise- I love MC Escher and Salvador Dali most of all. -Mrs

The Venus of Urbino by Titian. I saw this during a visit to the Ufizi in Florence - knocked me sideways.

Newcastle

Im usually a Picasso and Lichtenstein fan but I recently saw these up close and they were amazing:

Rembrandt Self-Portrait 1660 oil, when he was 54

And

Monarch of the Glen

The skill on both is exquisite.

A painting called "Wings of Love"

My parents had it hanging in their bedroom for years and I always loved it for some reason (maybe the naked bodies?)

They got rid of it before they moved abroad, wish I'd taken it when they offered!

Well, the dog at her feet is supposed to be symbol for marital fidelity, so I guess the jury's out.

I certainly "would" though.

Oh yes, I remember that one - I may be mistaken, but I think it was hung on the living room wall on the set of the Mike Leigh play "Abigail's Party".

It's a beautiful painting!

I always found it very erotic.

It's great that you realise what a work of art an erect penis is.

The great art historian Ernst Gombrich said "There really is no such thing as art. There are only artists."

I recommend his classic book The Story of Art. It is very accessible and informative.

Yep there a couple of professional photos of my son when he was young that fall into that category. I’m biased of course but everyone remarked on them. There is one where the photographer captured his eyes in an incredible way.
