So swear faces thread got me reminiscing.. good old school dinners.

now im 35 so im at the generation where we still had traditional school dinners before that absolute doughnut & rubbish chef jamie oliver ruined it for everyone....

So what was your favourite school dinner?

Mine was:

the tray of beef pie with mash and veg, followed by the chocolate sponge cake with pink custard

I’m a fair bit older and the dinners we used to get were good wholesome non processed shite all cooked on the grounds and was the best meal of the day for most of us.

Steak pie, the cheese flan even the spaghetti was nice along with the puds!

The time you are taking about are the chips with everything pizza high fat sugar choices that the kids were allowed to make that Jamie Oliver was against and was proved right

.

Those cheesy pinwheel things. Cornflake tarts with pink custard or the sponges topped with hundreds and thousands. Or this butternut squash and goats cheese risotto. Loved that.

Oh im definitely not. Everything was cooked from scratch on site. The lamb stew was amazing could smell it cooking all morning.

Instead now pasties and pre packed sandwiches full of salt.

The dinners I had at primary school were utter shite,pre-cooked elsewhere and delivered in big hot boxes,so it had been sat festering for at least an hour before we got to it.

High school dinners were alright-ish,we mostly fucked off down the local chippy, kebab shop or chinese for dinner instead though.

Only food worthy of mention throughout the years was the chocolate corn flake cake with pink custard that one of my high schools did once a week,THAT was luscious to 13yr old me

We still make cornflake tart. Chocolate sponge and pink or chocolate custard.

Cheese and potatoe pie.

Unfortunately the children want chips and pizza most days.

My memory is telling me yes, you are hugely missing out. I loved them. It has been a long time since I had them but they were ridiculously delicious. Sadly you will never be able to try one as Jamie Oliver got them banned. What a knob he is caring about our health.
