Apparently young Brits are shunning traditional desserts in favour of a slice of grapefruit or some other shite .

I cant imagine how sad this is that some people will go their entire lives without experiencing the sheer pleasure of Jam Roly Poly and Custard , or Cheesecake with Double Cream .

Very Sad .

Bread and butter pudding, rhubarb crumble, pineapple upside down sponge. All with custard. Rice pudding and jam. Cherry pie. Sticky toffee pudding. Tiramisu. Creme caramel. Creme brulee. Uh oh, am hungry for pudding now!

I guess it's a bilberry. The moors are full of them here. The dog and I often come home from walkies with a tub full of them and purple teeth from snacking as we go

Oooh homemade puds are a must at Kinky Towers.

Tonight we had a steamed syrup sponge and custard. Tomorrow I'll make a couple of batches of ice cream.

Sunday we'll be having gooseberry crumble.

Mr Kinky loves anything fruity but his faves are peach tarte tatin and goosegog crumble.

Our granddaughter doesn't like ANY cooked fruit or fruity desserts so we've disowned her, cut her allowance and inheritance and sent her to live on an island until she has a word with herself and sorts herself out.

Yep. Rhubarb is my favourite, with apple a close second. But I've had pear, peach, apricot, plum and gooseberry.

My Nan and grumpy ALWAYS did puddings (homemade) and they were lush.

Crumbles (Apple, Blackberry or Rhubarb) were my fave, with hot custard.

Jam Roly Poly and custard was a favourite from my School days.

Recently found a recipe for microwaved syrup/jam sponge pudding. Mixed it up, put it in microwave, & a few minutes later had made a mountain of pudding

I can only echo your experience, my grandmother would always insist on a proper steamed pud and I can recollect the taste! I've grown into a total desert fiend as a result!
