I was just thinking

If we are 99% genetically the same as chimpanzees. Why are we so much different from them?

It's the base genome.

Its like saying you have the genese for hands, feet, hair, eyes mouth, etc etc.

from that base the difference grows bigger and bigger.

For example us being able to have blue eyes and chimps not, isnt taken as a difference.

A 1.2% base genome difference grows to a 5% difference overall. But in theory they could only ever possibly get to 98.8% like us.

So if there is a 6% base difference, then the total difference could be 15% or even 20%

humans can have a 0.1% to 0.2% base genome difference.

a hundred and sixty of us living in a small shoebox in the middle of the road

Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin wanted to rebuild the Red Army, in the mid-1920s, with Planet-of-the-Apes-style troops by crossing humans with apes. . . Stalin is said to have told Ivanov, ‘I want a new invincible human being, insensitive to pain, resistant and indifferent about the quality of food they eat.

Humans routinely breed with apes. Humans ARE apes. See my clarification on the other thread about "things taught as fact but never proven",if you're interested.

Apparently all chimps enjoy group-sex, but we know those humans who do are in the minority. We've got some catching up to do!

Aylesbury

You have to bare in mind that our DNA generally has most of the dna from our ancestors. This is shown in the growth of embryos and feotuses which starts out looking like fish and ends with a human being bit hitting every evolutionary stage in between
