Agree with you we not been on here very long but been together for very long time our sex life was never boring tried most stuff you can with just two people. So wouldn’t say we’ve ever been vanilla

Sometimes vanilla is nice for me, it's still hot and steamy but every mood takes a different spin on what sex you have imo. Sometimes a little soft bdsm, sometimes role play, sometimes massage, really does depend what mood we are in. |

I think the definition of vanilla has changed a bit and people see it as negative or boring but yes, there are loads of people who enjoy "traditional" sex and aren't interested in anything deemed to be kinky. |

Exactly. All the terms regarding sex are open to interpretation but really at the end of the day it's about the people involved doing it their way and not about rules or restrictions. |

I personally find that in real life and quite often online, when people speak of vanilla sex it is never in a positive way, it is always used negatively and to put someone down. "Oh they are so boring and vanilla" 
I agree with the comment earlier about how a good session of slow gentle and simple sex can sometimes beat the more wild, wham bam and slam kind. I say just let people enjoy sex however they want, if they like to fuck vanilla then good for them! I'm sure they love it and it hits the spot for them. |

I quite McD’s vanilla, under rated. As for sex, the term is annoying, like it’s got to be one or the other. I think it depends on dynamic, mood, situation etc sex, kink, ‘nilla, fun....so long as it works for the people at that time then it’s all good  |

I think some people use it to be derogatory and to mean anyone not kinky is boring which is unfair.
The way I have known it used within the kink community tends to be simply to mean "non-kinky". We use it to refer to things even in our own lives such as calling our lives away from the kink community our vanilla lives, our friends from outside the kink community our vanilla friends as appossed to kink friends and for some like myself who have jobs related to kink I have my kink job and my vanilla job. Others have a kink name and a vanilla (I.e. real name). For some like myself it's a bit blurred as a lot of my friends I know through the kink community I consider real life friends but other people have very distinct saperate kink and vanilla lives and it's just a term used to differentiate.
Personally I don't see vanilla as an insult, just a different flavour. Most kinky people also enjoy vanilla sex too. Good vanilla sex can sometimes be harder to come by than kinky play so it's definitely something of value! |

Because especially on here, people who use the term do so in a derogatory manner. It's nearly always used in a judgemental way and I've never known anyone I like to use the term. |

It’s a pretty meaningless term as the sexual activities people engage in these days as a norm has evolved considerably. Even the BDSM context for the term is less appropriate. I don’t use the term except referring to the essence or the ice cream. |
