Manchester (she/her)

Chatted with a few people over the last couple of months who were trying to get into a gym habit. (other exercise also welcome)

So, for those who are still relatively newbies, how's it going?

After going to the gym for several weeks early last year I thought I was doing canny so I decided that I'd step up the tredmell only think is I couldn't stop it from going faster, result went flying off at on my belly, never been back so embarrassing though I can laugh about it now

.

Painfully. My body hurts and I've used parts of me that were long in hibernation. I'm telling myself it takes nth amount of time to work and see and feel progress and for a habit to form. I'm trying weights on Wednesday. If that fails I'm blaming you.

I had 7 weeks away from gym and PT sessions for my holiday in UK.

I had my first PT session (legs) on Thursday and despite stretching after could barely bend to sit on toilet or walk upstairs!!

London

Got my gym membership through this weekend. Time to get things sorted! I want to figure out a good weights routine and mix in with swimming twice a week.

Ooh I've done stuff like that. If it's the embarrassment thing, don't sweat it. Honestly.

I was a regular gym user, did yoga, chi fit and core for over a year, got in rally good shape then the instructor moved away. Do swimming now and that’s going well

Swimming is fantastic. I just don't have the patience for other people in the pool

socially distanced

I’ve been back at the gym/PT for three months know and although I’m not quite seeming the changes yet everyone around me is, and they’re constantly commenting on it.

Mentally I do feel better for being back at the gym. And I think the fact I can see the numbers I’m lifting increasing is helping me focus a lot.

Somewhere

I workout on a regular basis. Karate, yoga, power walking. But I can't seem to tighten my abs the way I'd like. Planks, crunches. Any help would be appreciated.

I think (having read) abs, for most people, are mostly down to fat deposits (diet). It's not something I focus on, although I think my core stability is improving as a result of other things I do.

from Home Counties to Middle Earth

I used to be athlete fit and yoga supple -I need to get back doing something, anything. You've got me thinking of how I can achieve this in my busy schedule ...and I've found an opportunity, so thank you for the inspiration x

Mold

I try to get at least three sessions in during the week.

I mix it up between cardio sessions, running, swimming and rowing, with light weights.

Then a harder session on the weights with light cardio

I'm lucky in that the gym is just over the road from where I work, and I can park there all day, on the days when i don't cycle to work

It's not easy to keep it up at first but making it become a habit and routine you get in to is my key

I cancelled my gym membership in december, as we have plenty of equipment at home to use. Think I use any of it!?

I have just recently discovered bouldering which i love. I'm shit at it, and too heavy to be any good, but I love it.

That and running is my fave.

It's definitely about doing what you love. Whatever it is.
