I was thinking about this yesterday. Might be a daft idea, but why don't they hold the charity Shield in the States?
Most UK fans I know see it as a glorified friendly, and those that go seem to do so out of a sense of obligation rather than actual desire to see their team win it, so we would lose very little.
From an American perspective, they'd get a high profile (relatively) competitive match with most of the star players involved instead of the B team friendly tours they currently pay to see.
If the FA are genuinely serious about spreading. The game to the USA it's a decent first step. |
