Weddings or Funerals?
This might sound odd but unless there’s been a really tragic circumstance, I generally prefer funerals. (Apart from the obvious down side that someone had to die). |

I prefer weddings, I always can feel everyone’s sadness and cry at a funeral even if I don’t know the person well and it feels quite dramatic of me - Mrs. |

But I would like funerals if I didn’t have to go to the eulogy part. Then it would be better. Both are celebrations of the most idealised part of life really, through rose coloured glasses. |

I find funerals confront me with the reality that life is short and I should live it well. I often come away inspired and or challenged.
While weddings can be fun, they seem to be expensive distractions from reality. I feel like the boy in the story of the emperor’s new clothes. |

Weddings. I've only been to 3 funerals and they were all of close family memebers. Although some view it as a celebration of life, i see it as the realisation of never seeing that person again, spending time with them. Hugging them. Very depressing. Weddings are a celebration for a potential new future together. I'd prefer to celebrate something filled with promise, than filled with loss.

Funerals.
Not the actual funeral but the wake. I think because people are emotional and are reflective then alcohol gets added it feels like such a loving environment and really inclusive.
Whereas with a wedding I don't really get emotional, I'm happy for the couple but their love doesn't capture me. I find the day drags so I drink but not enough to get d*unk, I just get tired. Plus I don't know half the people there and have no deeper connection with them like I do with those who have lost someone important. |

I don't dislike funerals but I'd much rather a wedding.
Perhaps it's the circle of people I'm in but aside from a couple of wankfests of a society weddings, the weddings I have been to have been intimate, close friend and family affairs that celebrate the union of two people both dear to me. Or at least one who is very dear to me.
The last one I went to the entire family pitched in; it was held at the parents' pile, the auntie did the catering and it ended up with us sitting around a large fire, drinking whisky, sharing tales of uni escapades and laughing at how far we've come and remembering those who we've lost.
It was happy and filled with love and not the extravagant displays of false love and grandeur often associated with weddings. |

I’ve only been to three weddings and one of them had a lot of drama involved so will go with this. Plus there is usually a disco  .
Funerals make me sad and i don’t like seeing people visably upset. |
