Four signs that someone is probably insecure

The right place

I was reading an article on the Psychology Today website on this topic that made me think of the forums.

The four signs that someone is probably insecure are:

1 - they try to make you feel insecure about yourself

2 - they need to showcase his or her accomplishments

3 - they drop the ‘humblebrag’ far too often

4 - they frequently complain that things aren’t good enough

They conclude by saying: being able to detect insecurity in people around you can help you shake off the self-doubts that some people seem to enjoy fostering in you. Taking the high road, and not giving into these self-doubts, may also help you foster feelings of fulfilment both in yourself and in the insecure people that you know and care about.

Good advice for forum mental health!!

Or 1, 2 and 3 could be the guys showing off their cock pics, certain forum comments and throwing abuse at women who turn them down

I'd say that's correct.

Does anybody consider levels of insecurity in people have increased in recent years or have I just become more observant?

I think research indicates that increased use of social media has an impact on insecurity. Which might explain an increase in recent years.

Likely because everyone seems to compare their lives against others. It’s not always greener, they only show you what you want to see !

I think there have always been people who compare themselves to others. It used to be called keeping up with the Joneses. Nowadays we have a whole world at our finger tips and unless you are of the mind set that you are good enough as you are insecurity will take over.

Yes, social media is generally everyone else’s highlights reel.
