OK so this is all I can tell you.
I have a Macbook (?Air I think - it's one of those skinny silver thin ones). I have to use Windows also for work related stuff hence with someone's help 4 years ago I got BOTH the Mac stuff and Windows. Going into Windows is a pain in the arse because you have to turn the machine off and restart then press that ALT button like crazy and then choose Windows.
I've run out of space and so want a bigger drive and don't want to spend ££ on a new machine. A friend of mine put me through someone who can replace the drive BUT ........ he says the new drive will only have Mac and I'll have to go through the whole process of getting Windows again. So MS Office etc on my Windows stuff will have to be "reinstalled" so I'm told. Then he went on and on about some stuff about creating a "disc image" and that he can't do it when both Mac and Windows is on the same drive ....... Or some drivel like that.
Question to you: does that sound right or is he just misinformed?? |

I don't know the answer to that specifically I'm afraid but I'm wondering if there's an alternative.
Why do you need Windows as an operating system? MS Office is available for Mac and will save files in a format that can be read by Windows users. Logging into a Windows network should be possible. Is there something you require that has no alternative than to run in Windows? |

Mac O/S and Windows are totally different operating systems work in different ways and hence why you have to restart your MacBook and select Windows via the Alt key. Or Dual booting which is what this is called.
Yes you will need to have windows reinstalled.
Would it not be easier to have the Mac version of Microsoft office installed rather that go to the trouble of having a dual boot laptop.
I’m only guessing that mainly use windows for office apps like word and excel .... unless you have specific windows apps |
