I suffered hypersexuality as a side effect of antidepressants a fair few years ago. It was incredibly frustrating as another side effect was loss of sensation and difficulty reaching orgasm!

Yep.

I'm hypersexual, they don't use the word nymphomaniac anymore apparently.

It can be torture!

Apparently an increased sex drive is a side-effect of a new contraceptive being trialled so there could be a lot more in a few years...

I once knew someone who was hypersexual and hyperorgasmic, it wasn't fun for her.

I can orgasm without being touched, or touching myself...but luckily it's not something that happens a lot.

Being hypersexual is so frustrating at times. I've got more of an understanding of it all now and can control myself if not my urges but for a long time it wasn't easy for me at all.

I know a woman who has extended bouts. A symptom of her bi-polar condition. Can be pretty awful for her because she's at her most susceptible when she's at her lowest.

It's pretty common in those of us with bipolar disorder.

Yup, I have mixed affective disorder so antidepressants often cause symptoms associated with mania.

When I was younger my mum’s friend would come off her medication and had these symptoms. I always got to have her daughter (who was my age and my best friend) stay over, and I never understood why until I was a lot older

Just for the record I was unaware of this being a thing people suffer from and I meant no offence

I didn't find your post offensive.

It's not something a person could ever really understand if they've not experienced it. And it's often a variable experience amongst those who do.

You could tell your intent wasn't anything untoward

Central

We all exist on a spectrum, or many spectra, that aren't particularly 2 dimensional. You can add the perspectives of the judgemental, the needy, the medical model etc but the only important perspective is our own. If I'm in need, how come you're not enjoying yourself, so that we're satisfied?
