I've just been on a mental health course as work and it was a big eye opener.
Might be a silly thing to ask but how does mental health effect you and does swinging come in line with your lifestyle does it make you feel any different or does it give you anxiety etc. |

I went on a 2-day mental health first aid course last week, through work, which was really good. I've had issues with anxiety in the past. I think mental health for me is a lot about self awareness and staying aware of my thoughts and feelings. Like with everyone, some days or moments are harder than others. |

I did a course many years ago, it was an eye opener and helped me manage my day to day life.
I know my triggers so try to avoid them if possible, otherwise I have coping mechanisms in place to help. Plus with my job being creative I tend to use it as my therapy.
As for being here on fab if I find it overwhelming I take a break. Which have done recently, but I'm also open about my anxiety when meeting or talking to people if looking to meet.

Yeah I realised I had some anxiety by actually doing the course.
But it got me thinking how everyone elses looks at it within swinging.
Like for me it takes me away from my normal life if that makes sense. |

My mental health is always a factor, say to day. Sex, nowadays helps with my mood loads, as do social situations like clubs and being able to chat shit on here. I do occasionally get a spike in my anxiety, but not enough that it's a worry or puts me off. Swinging is part of my lifestyle and having my fella around certainly helps. |

My anxiety got in the way for about a year. Then I was having health issues (fibromyalgia) and I refused to meet in case it flared up, and the thought just gave me anxiety all over again.
I’ve had panic attacks so severe I’ve woken up with an ambulance crew around me as I had stopped breathing (more than once).
I also have depression. Years of therapy. So fun. |

I sometimes think it must be overwhelming for womem on fab to get SOOO many messages. Maybe some might take it as a compliment but i often think others might just be put off with the sheer weight. I try to be selective about messaging new women in my area but its easy sometimes just to get caught up in the melee |

The amount of messages didn’t have any affect on my mental health |

My mental health is pretty shit. 11 hospital admissions 9 of which where sections. Every day is a fight for survival but i live with it. Howevever when im too ill to function i just fuck off until i can. I only see my regular guys now and ive been seeing them all for a number of years so they are used to me now. Have to say though fab and swinging have no bearing on my mental health whatsoever they dont make it any better or any worse |

I struggle bad I manage to keep stable in work only cos lives depend on me and me being on form an head in the game, but outside am a mess.
It does affect me as since I was in school and was bullied bad I’ve struggle to make friends, communicate in a good way and struggle to be safe and stuff this pushed my anxiety to major highs. I message people and hope to get replies but as I never get any or just a few I then worry it’s cos my looks, my body and then what I’ve said is to dumb for anyone to wana know more.
Last year I had an operation on my knee and after struggling for 2 yrs with life an work. I broke down and realised how depressed I was my only release and contact with the world was online as I was housebound so I posted lots on fab and Fb etc to get contact.
So yes mh is a big issue and I think it impacts hopefully people don’t read this insight and put them off further. |

I suffer with ptsd after witnessing something awful that I still can't really talk about. I have the odd bad day but in the main I control things quite well. I immerse myself in my little bubble.
Fab hadn't helped or hindered me re my mental state. |

I have just resigned from my current job due to depression and anxiety issues with my MD. He will never change and i cannot work in an environment where i am scared to do anything just in case i get something wrong and get a chewing out.
So i am free of him and his tyrant like micro managing at last, and god does it feel good.
Doctors are on board so i am taking a couple of months to rebuild mentally and physically before looking for another job.
Hoping to get back into the garden trade as it was my first love as a career.
the FAB sites are fun, although you always have to remember that a rejection is nothing personal, well not most of the time. But it can be a lovely boost when someone thinks you are worth meeting with.
And yes i do have the "out of my league" issues still, but working on that.

My mental health problems are from my childhood, I rarely suffer from anxiety or depression anymore, but I did in my mid teens, twenties and thirties, fortunately I can now deal with those extremely well with techniques a very prominent psychologist taught me years ago.
My biggest problem is the nightmares, they are endless always the same, always wake up wet through. They are something I have excepted and will torment me for the rest of my life.

It’s nice some people’s situations I worrry am alone with how I feel.
My anxiety was always there from bein bullied in school daily so I became shy and recluse hence I use fab to speak to ppl and make contact as outside my trust circle is low.
But I got worse after I was attacked by someone as I was worried about ridicule and silly stuff I only told a few ppl but still now after 5 yrs the impact is huge as I wanna meet ppl and stuff but terrified if it happened again or safe situation. This ain’t just limited to fab but all of my life my anxiety is variable and my depression is high and still impacted.
I know I probably need see someone but I struggle by and try hide it but every so often it creeps out and boom ??
Sorry to post this it felt safe to speak especially to strangers even though I probably share my deepest thoughts here |

Never be afraid to speak to someone about your inner demons. There's always someone out there that understands how you feel and is willing to help you come to terms with issues you are struggling with.
I used to be in the RAF and served in Northern Ireland in County Down during the Troubles. Also served in a couple of other places that were pretty hairy. I get flashbacks very occasionally and if they get me down I can always turn to the military community for help and support, both by seeing someone or getting online help or seek help from GP.
Mental health issues these days are very much to the fore and there are many organisations that people can turn to for help.
Remember, you are never alone and there's always help. |

Thanks for the advice and stuff
I know work have stuff available but I worry if use it will it impact me going for promotions as if someone will say he needs mh help he is to weak to do it.
I know I need work on it as I was attacked I became obsessed with running as escape as I worried I’d got into a situation I couldn’t get away from. So I started running loads and weight loss etc so no I can’t run due to injury then operation I worry again I would be to weak and slow to escape if attacked. Although I’m so cautious I doubt I’d get in a situation again as I get anxious in changing room in gym or even in work if penned in.
Thanks again for info |
