We had to sell things two months ago to be able to afford to eat, and last month we borrowed money from family. Neither of which was fun, both of which was embarrassing, both of which we didn’t *need* to do, but we wanted to eat. None of us laughed, and I hope it didn’t tickle anybody.. | |||

"Many of us are just 1 or 2 steps away from circumstances that could plunge our life into disarray, dashing our dreams etc. Our society has been somewhat cleared of more of the stronger safety nets that have been developed, during periods when we've progressed away from the harsher periods of human existence. People can become homeless, lose their family, their income, subject to extreme rules that dictate that they are no longer deemed acceptable to the culture and thus not 'worthy' of being supported. Where people are degraded by their environment, including the political climate, I find it absolutely despicable, as we all deserve respect. Somone who becomes forced to engage with life in ways that aren't good for them, due to others' decisions, is being abused. It's worth contemplating who have been losers financially, since the 2008 crash, for example - which gender, ages etc and what type of people have imposed such changes upon those who just happened to be the subjects of such harsher climates.
