"Venice didn’t smell when I went there.
I think a Camembert factory in Normandy is one of the smelliest places I have been.
I’d love the latter. Yummy!!"
It’s only smelly for the first few minutes and after that you get nose blindness. The cheese was delicious. |

"Long drop" toilets on an Army training area.
Why is it called "long drop" I hear you ask?
Cos its just a shed over a deep pit, with a toilet with no bottom, so your poo has a long drop before it lands.
It then festers there for years, along with hundreds of other poo's, until the pit is filled, when they cap it, and move the shed to another pit.
Not to be experienced in high summer...I took to wearing my NBC respirator (gas mask) if I had to go! |

I used to live near a chicken processing plant - you've never EVER smelt anything like it! Rotten meat smell through out. Eventually, it shut (thank god) and I managed to sell the house and move!!! I didn't want to risk it re-opening.

Ohhhhh my pug Draco is ‘too happy!’ about life so doesn’t empty his anal glands when he’s shitting. So sometimes they just explode in my living room
He now has to go to the vets once a month to get them emptied. Worst smell ever |

The hottest day of the year a few years back working on track maintenance for the new trams at the Sunderland aircraft museum.... About 16 of us sweaty lads digging stinking mud and lifting some heavy rails into place for 3 weeks... It was horrible.... |

"Venice.. Though others report it's not always like that. "
I have been Venice many times and it's never smelt.
When i was a child my mum used to park (for free) outside a factory that did something to cow skins, the smell was awful |

"Fox poo on my dog ... OMFG disgusting!!!
Why do dogs seem to like rolling in this?"
So they can cover themselves, they won’t get hunted if they don’t smell like themselves |

A house I have to deliver to has a porch like a plastic lean-to and the whole family keep their stinking trainers and shoes in there, I have to hold my breath especially in the summer |

"Where is the smelliest place you have been?"
For a few months in the mid 80's, when there was steel making there, I lived in Redcar. When the wind was in the tight direction' there was no escape from the smell of bad eggs. |

I worked in a plastic recycling factory in Skelmersdale, they would buy in nappies from Germany and turn in into crumbled plastic. Occasionally you got a nappy that wasn't washed out properly, the operative used to throw up into the crumble and carry on. |

"Tough one.... working in an abattoir was bad. Factory toilets in China (about 1995) were the worst though."
I was in China circa ‘95 and can attest that toilets in some of the places were pretty grim |

Apart from Lush, my dad used to have a deli and ordered a massive wheel of Stinking Bishop cheese. It was a very long shop so he kept it in a sealed tub in the very back and you could still smell it.
Or I once cuddled a cat that had killed a possum and kept going back to it for days. So dead possum in summer. |

I've had the misfortune to encounter a few filthy smelly houses over the years working as a television engineer, most recently a lady who I've shagged a couple of times at my place. Had no idea her place stank of sweaty dog, stale cigarette smoke & general filth until she wanted me to look at her bedroom television. |

The first time I went to Zante I rode a quad bike from Argassi to Laganas with the then girlfriend and was absolutely busting for a slash on arrival, so with nowhere else to go in a hurry I nipped into a derelict overgrown house to relieve myself. Upon entering it turned out that the "looky looky" men were using it as a squat and there was human shit surrounded by used toilet roll everywhere. It was 52°c that day and the smell was absolutely horrendous |

Funny you should mention ol' Rotty, was talking about it earlier. I didn't mind the stink, wouldn't want to wash my clothes there though."
Booked here for 3 nights, checked out after 1 - uhh |
