Years ago I had to retrain in a different job so I could be at home in the holidays for my daughter .... no choice , I had no childcare
8 years on I absolutely love my job but it’s very poorly paid for what I do. I could leave now, but I have a community and families that need people who genuinely care - not just do the job for spare cash.
So I stay .... because I worry, care and want to make a difference to them
My question ( I’m full of them today )
Your job - do it for love or not ?
Or are you lucky enough to not work but volunteer ? Or are you ladies or gents at leisure ? |

Love might be a bit strong, I'd rather take your 2nd option but I don't dread going to work. The environment is good, I plan my own day. It's in a personal interest area of mine, so things are ok...  |

I recently left a job I loved due to the company starting to demand more and more with less staff.
Started a new job 2 weeks ago and so far thoroughly enjoying it. |

I love my job and the children and families I support. Unfortunately I’m been made redundant at the end of August so instead of taking on a similar role I’m going to follow my dream and I’ve applied for a midwifery course |

I genuinely have a great time at work, it’s a tough job at times, I see the worst in people daily and I see some horrific things but it’s all about who you work with and I work with the best bunch of fuckwits you’d ever hope to meet. I look forward to going to work, I’d miss it if I didn’t go. |

work to live not live to work, if the job you do is enjoyable and it pays just enough for you to LIVE then stay, I love my work and it pays well but would rather have time than money these days  |

I don’t think love quite describes it. I like my team and they make the job rewarding. But it is the lack of “love” shown by my managers that hurts. |

I do a job for a company that supports people across the country so that aspect is rewarding.
My role in the company has become very far removed from that thi over the years. But it pays me well enough to work part time so in that respect I'm lucky.
The actual job doesn't stretch me or engage me anymore.
I do have the opportunity to do vol work in my free time tho, which is much more fun.

I was in road transport till April and loved it. However I moved to Spain and dont miss it one bit. I'm now selling my house here so I can buy a country house with a cattery or cat hotel. I simply cant wait to take it on as it's a total life change and also being single is a nice way to be. |

I do it for the money. Pure and simple.
It pays well above average and I’ve 25 years pensionable service with the same company. All this means I’m fortunate that I can retire at 55. I certainly wouldn’t do it cause I enjoy it. |

I am so lucky because I love what I do. Sometimes I take a step back and think "I can't fucking believe I get paid to do this".
I used to work a job I hated. Cried ever morning going in. No amount of money is worth that. Do what you love and find a way to make it pay. |

Working shifts has its plus points. On many a winters morning after finishing nights it’s great to go home to bed as the rest of the world trudges through the slush on their way to work. And 40k a year isn’t too bad. |

I used to do it for love... Im a District Nurse...but the politics just sucked my soul dry even though I loved my patients .. I had to make a choice be miserable for the rest of my life or get off my arse... After 19 years I didn't know what I could do, So I spent two years looking and left to become self employed doing what I do now. It hasn't been easy.. But I couldn't be happier and I'm still helping people. |

No. I enjoy it.
The people are bitchy as fuck. Amazing place to work though, never a dull moment. Not much in regards to job satisfaction. And for those reasons I can't label it as 'love'.

No. I enjoy it.

I work where I do for convenience, it fits well around my little people. If they need me while they're at school I'm 2 minutes away. The pay is shit but I work with some great people who make it for me, and it's a nice environment. I don't have to work but if I didn't I'd be bored silly! |

My job can be high pressure and also working in stressful environments, do I love it? No, I did when I was a lot younger, but I do get a very big buzz from it. Do I do it for family etc? Unfortunately that's a big no. |

Uni to complete a masters (which I’ve nearly finished!), hopefully from that I’ll get a decent job that I enjoy that pays well. |

I'm not working atm due to health issues, but normally I'm a makeup artist. I love it.
It's stressful at times but so much fun!
I hope to be able to go back to it in some way, at somepoint but I also want to do other things. |

My job is also just a paycheck, I used to love it.
Helping people with there cars amd feeling a sense of achievement but what with everything becoming about productivity and efficiencys it's turned soul less to a degree

Maybe my mindset is very different to the rest but any job that I do, I can make it enjoyable for myself and I always work my arse off.
Some of the jobs have been very rewarding and I was in the same mode of thinking that I shouldn’t leave because I genuinely care for my patients. Sometimes, it’s only you who really know what level of care you are providing whilst others are oblivious to it.
However, at the end of the day, you need to look out for yourself too. As much as a job is rewarding, enjoyable and one that you think you need to stay for your service users. You need to make sure that job is looking out for you too.
That’s why I recently changed my job for better hours and better pay. May not be as rewarding as my previous role, but there’s a different element to it now.
At the end of the day, I still need to pay my bills and enjoy my life. I don’t mind what job I do, as long as it puts food on my plate, a roof over my head and pays for the hotels and condoms (wink wink).

I'm self employed so it's hard to enjoy the prospect of if I dont work indent earn. So no holidays, no getting ill. I've had 8 days off ill in 8 and a half years and that was because I had surgery. Not been on holiday since 2010  |
