What was your dream profession when you were growing up? What job did you actually end up doing?
I always wanted to be an accountant, I ended up being a MVA trainer |

Wanted to be an animator, now an artist, but money work is a bit of everything freelance. So making tiny incrememental changes that will hopefully, eventually result in something impressive. Not that far off. Need better writers though. |

Up on them there hills |
A barrister, I had to do international law as part of a course I was on and was offered a trainee position in the law firm the senior lecturer worked for.
I was too young and the books too dusty. |

I wanted to be a teacher, I was SEN support now when I go back, a nurture teacher. Alot of people at work are telling me I will be a teacher in no time. I'm not having it. The want to be a classroom teacher went along time ago. Working with children who need extra time and support is where my heart lies. |

I wanted to be an archaeologist but an Indiana Jones style archeologist!!
Running around the world finding ancient treasures, getting into adventures and doing dangerous, adrenaline fuelled stunts.
I used to do two out of the three in my job but haven’t found any treasures with the exception of Holly.
She is a source of unspeakable power and a priceless treasure all rolled into one!

Sounds like you're not far off then. Hope it's everything you expected.
Game dev sounds cool too. Used to make my own games when I was younger on a C64 but I doubt I could keep up now. |

From the age of 6 I wanted to be a teacher. I became a teacher. I however left 2 years to become something I dreamed of doing from 24 years. Without saying what it is, it’s the most rewarding and privileged job to have in my opinion, still got another year of my degree until I qualify |

No, hated kids until I had my own, only really went into Early Years because of my sons.
25 years later, with an hons degree. Tried NVQ assessing but not for me, now back in a setting, less time with the children, more responsible for staff development.
Yes! Sounds cool! He has just completed his degree in Game development, came out with a 2:1 from Abertay. Starting work for a company in Edinburgh as a game scripter, quite a specialist skill, not many around.
His new boss did the scripting for Grand Theft Auto, and Red Dead Redemption.
Games of my boy loved so he is pinching himself to be working under this guy.

Aww you really do flatter me too much sweetie
I always wanted to be a writer. I did end up getting numerous works published, but my ultimate dream, to write a novel, is still a pipe a dream..
. For now

Congratulations to him. Sounds like quite an achievement. You must be proud.
A friend of mine is an artist for a games company and she loves it. I heard GTA and RDR2 were harsh on their devs though. But it doesn't seem like wrk if you love what you do. |

Aw cool! Yeah, Rockstar have a notorious rep in the game dev world for treating their staff like crap.
He isn't working there! He was offered an interview with them, he turned it down saying he wanted to be part of something, and not a number
The company he is going too is owned by Ex Rockstar employees. |

Sounds like it will be much more rewarding that way. Smaller devs are usually able to take more risks in terms of art and vision (if that makes sense) instead of pushing for unit sales. Bit like Hollywood vs Indie films. Gotta take some risks for the rewards. |
