"Medication.
I have thought of that if i'm honest."
I was having panic attacks for days since i became disabled, waited a few months for them to stop or go away and they didn't so i went GP and they put me on a high dose of sertraline (eventually). It does work but downfall is they also make me very tired and a bit muggy headed. |

Yoga has been helpful to me, hey often work mindfulness & grounding into the lessons.
I'll second exercise - feeling physically stronger can carry over to the mind.
And yes, getting laid helps, but the pressure to do so often makes it even more difficult & it may take some time battling before you find yourself in that position.
I've also found building an understanding social group a massive help - maybe there are local activities & societies you can join? Even posting here is a good step, just getting it out of your head. |

"I always think of the other CBT when anyone mentions it, I've been corrupted.
You mean CBD?
No, they mean cognitive behavioral therapy. "
I know that...lol suggested the same. I mean "the other CBT"...what's that? |

There’s no guarantees with it, for example I never found any happiness from exercising and I even got a massive mood drop after the exercises had finished.
You’ve just got to try it all and see what works for you. I’ll throw in the 7-11 breathing technique if you haven’t tried it |

If it is really effecting you I would recommend booking an appointment with your GP. They can refer you for therapy and even offer medication. CBT is good as it helps to change the way you think.
I used to suffer very badly and I still do have my bad days, but I find healthy eating and lots of exercise help. Also, talk about how you're feeling with people and don't keep it bottled up.
I haven't tried meditation but it's meant to be really good! I could never get into that.
Also, slowly count to ten and lots of deep breaths when the anxiety is taking over. Try to remember it's a temporary feeling and you will calm down. Push yourself to do what you need to do as much as you can because 9/10 you will be happy you did it. |

male here.ive watched my other half suffer with heightened anxiety for over 20 years and watched as gp's put her on every medication under the sun all to no or little effect.
after having 2 major surgeries in the last year i am now fot enough to go back to the gym and my oh comes with.it has changed her diet the way she feels about herself
and after a passing comment on the shop we buy our protein shakes from the owner mentioned cbd oil and gave her a few drops to try.omfg what a diffrence in her in just w0 mons she was calm thinking clearly and said she felt amazing.not hi as there is no thc in the oil
so we went back and bought a bottle its a1000mg all organic and derived from cannabis plants not hemp like most cheap versions .after 2 months of taking 4 drops in the morning under her tongue it has had a most dramatic effect on her mood no more constant brain screaming at her she thinks more clearly and has beenn able to lower her meds from gp.

"Maybe try lucid dreaming
Whats that?"
A state of sleep in which primary and secondary states of consciousness coexist is called lucid dreaming, a phenomenon that some think is unique to humans.
In lucid dreams the sleeper becomes aware of the fact that they are dreaming while the dream continues. Sometimes the dreamer gains control over the ongoing dream plot and, for example, is able to put a dream aggressor to flight; such as the classic childhood trope of the monster under the bed. |

I have what I call my rescue medication which stops a panic attack in its tracks. But I can't take anti depressants I don't react well and they stop me having orgasms (K female) which sucks!!
I use the gym and did some CBT last year. I find my sub/Dom helps as well. |

Try the headspace app. But yeah, taking the time to discover the cause is the thing. Counselling can make a big difference and doesn't necessarily need to go on for a lifetime, just a stage where you feel more in control. |

For the OP
It really depends on the 'type' of anxiety you are experiencing. Unfortunately a lot of self-help and online articles will suggest mindfulness and breathing exercises. Whilst these are good generic stress management strategies, it is usually more helpful to work with a therapist (particularly CBT therapist) who can design a detailed treatment plan for you specific to your anxiety. Sometimes doing breathing techniques and mindfulness can actually make your anxiety worse.
Most NHS services in England can provide you with free CBT and/or anxiety management courses. |
