Is Disney really dead?

Jump to: Newest in thread

Fabbers, what are your thought about Disney and the decadence it has had in recent years? Is it really dead?

Comment below

here is my review of the Lion King I went to watch today...enjoy

Jon Favreau...really stand out this time...it has already made his print in the cinematic universe...but this time (I would say it was about time) momentarily "saved" Disney from a perpetual and inevitable pratfall .

This proper remake, is just terrific, full of blissful and comical scenes to make you feel happy inside and roll your abs upside down from how funny and at times witty it is; and so emotional, to bring not a few, but many tears to the eye. An absolute pearl to the eye due to fantastic CGI, an award winning Soundtrack brought to us from the incredible Hans Zimmer and Beyonce and a faithful cast who made the remake possible...I mean, just knowing that James Earl Jones was in it, I had butterflies in my belly xD

People, critics will always be critical, some wont like it, but many will. Disney has destroyed some of the most iconical franchise to date, but this one, It is worth watching it especially in IMAX 3D.

Enjoy and keep rockin'

It is far from being dead! I haven't watched The Lion King yet but I can't wait. I'm excited for Mulan too but I've heard they aren't having Mushu involved so it won't be the same

For dead, I mean, killing the original beauty of which Walt gave it a soul.

I mean, Mulan right? It's a masterpiece in every way. Then mulan 2 came out and ruined it. Now, for example, the beauty and the beast or dumbo or the most recent, Aladdin; they have all disappointed. Why? Cause they have all lost what Disney have created. A magic that cannot be replicated unless you do something completely different and not a remake.

Oh don't even get me started on Mulan 2

I see what you mean and I agree to an extent. I think sometimes they do disappoint and a 'real life' version will never be as fun because there's only so much you can do with CGI and the budget these movies have. Whereas in the past, the kind of animation they used didn't cost the earth and you could go as crazy as your imagination would let you.

But, I do think the majority of the time they nail it and bring that magical, warm and nostalgic feeling straight to our hearts. It's definitely more special when it's a completely new and exciting story.

I completely agree, just, leave the original alone and do something completely different, without recycling a title to make more money and destroy your own legacy lol!

I mean Mushu, bloody Murphy, is what made it amazing. Without him, what the heck are they intending to do? Make a Panda talk instead? Cause that s already happened xD

I have a feeling they are going for a very serious warrior movie with Mulan. I have a feeling there won't be much to laugh about. I wasn't too impressed by the teaser trailer.

Pirates of the Caribbean was good, as is the MCU.

Jungle Book was good till King Louie arrived.

Wreck it Ralph 1&2.

Pixar is stuff of legend.

Starwars was never good after Return of the Jedi.

I rate Disney Studios. Always have done.

Since now MCU has been bought by Disney yeah MCU is great, nothing to say about that.

Pirates of the Caribbean? First films. Great. Last one, completely ruined it. On my opinion.

Jungle book, yeah was good, but not a complete fan unfortunately.

Wreck it Ralph, a master piece doubles up with the sequel!

Pixar...what can u say...100% agree

Star wars...prequels (I, II, III) are underrated. I would really suggest you to watch them again. They are a Lucas imagination. The sequel after return from VII...aberration...lol

It's literally like the original, just a few different things I wont point out, not spoiling it for whoever hasn't seen it yet.

But yes. Even when he died I literally felt my heart sinking...luckly Seth rogan its bloody hilarious as Pumba so he saved me from being admitted to hospital ahahah

Well, Jar Jar...hoped he died somehow, unfortunately did not happened, could blame him for the order 66, just because so he could die. Anakin...well, if you were a genius, would you act stupid? Atbkeats arrogance continued as he grew older lol

CGI yoda...I doubt you could see yoda showing off his lightsaber skills as a muppet.

And boba fett, wasnt he the best bounty killer ever existed? Then who died stupidly in the 6th episode?!? Lol

I get your point, not what expected, but how can you after 20 years! Had to be adapted

I can’t wait to watch lion king next week, we watched Aladdin last night and although I love Will Smith and he did well, it was never going to be amazing without robin. I was glad that they stuck mostly to the script, that’s the problem, you have amazing movies and they remake but they try to change bits and it doesn’t sit right with me personally, it’s beautiful as it is and doesn’t need changing. Disney has always been close to my heart, utter Disney geek and I hope they keep the magic and stop trying to be modern, That’s what they are best at and all children need a little bit of Disney magic in their childhood.
