Hiding in the shadows

I learnt to drive before I started school, on my grandads land. First thing I drove was a Massey Ferguson 35

Took my test soon as I turned 17

And then again at 35

17 took my test in an automatic, as had a frame holding my left leg together after an accident.

35, finally sat my test in a manual.

I haven't.

I'd like to as I reckon I'd be a very capable driver. For now I have to remain a very capable navvy for 2 reasons.

1) I can't even afford lessons, never mind the rest of it

2) I have photosensitive epilepsy. It's not bad enough to affect my day to day life so I don't bother with medication but I can have twitches and temporary blindness if the sun is catches a row of trees or fences.

I wouldn't say I had a huge panic attack however I did panic every time I was on a lesson so gave up until I had the kids. Even then I didn't like it and only had the car when the ex wasn't using it so didn't get used to it for years. Now I love it and don't even mind the 6 hour drive to my cousins

A week before my 42nd birthday.

I failed my first test 20 years earlier and just didn’t bother trying again. I lived 20 minutes walk from the city centre and public transport was fantastic, didn’t see the need for a car. I relocated to be with shaggy, wasn’t long until I got so fed up with the crappy buses here that I decided to get a scooter. Drove that on L plates with cbt for a couple of years and decided to learn to drive again

17...(2001) it was my ambition from my day of birth

All i wanted to do was drive...

bought a red 1992 vauxhall nova SR when i was 15 with paper round & odd job money, lowered it, exhaust and white compomotive 16" alloys.. i felt the king in that little nova... i soon became quite hatedby farmers and the country folk where i lived & terrorised!

"28

Took lessons when I was 17 but hated it then decided after having two children it would be easier being able to drive than get on and off buses with all the baggage associated with young children "

Ditto!

17th birthday present from my parents but I hated it. Married and husband drove so never bothered until children arrived. Didn't have pushchair access then on buses so had to walk or wait for hubby.

"I'm still having lessons....My instructor said 2 or 3 more and I will be ready for my test "

I used to be in your area. Book your test in lichfield it's a easier route, only one roundabout which is the big bowling green one if I recall correctly and they take you on the A38 which is easy.
