I dropped my car off this morning. I hate the period of waiting when you don't know how much of a second mortgage you need...

Ok. I'm more tired/poorly than I realised. What other kind of MOT is there?

I'm fortunate in that I grew up in the trade and know a lot of MOT inspectors. As such it's very rare I get a car fail, but get a long list of advisories which if anyone else had taken in would have been failures. I still get the jobs done, but do them myself and I don't need to get them done in a hurry to stay legal.

A world all of his own

Even with a well maintained and looked after car, it's still nerve wracking lol. Thankfully I now have a run around so if one or the other fails, I've got time to sort it.

Hope it passes

Google just lists lots and lots of things about cars...

If you mean as someone has mentioned that club on the wrong side of the pennines? Why?

Just why would a good Lancastrian girl even know?

I'll run fown the brunshaw road any day though

Never ever heard that before and Lancastrian born and bred.

Kinda glad. Think the word alone would have put me off sex for life.

I'm usually sat in the car during the test, doing things like wiggling the steering wheel and applying the brakes etc for the tester

I'm at work about 40 miles away. My legs aren't that long!

Fingers crossed for you, mines in on Monday and I’m using a different garage to the one I usually go to. It changed hands recently and every time I get something done I seem to end up taking my car back because it’s not done properly. The new one has come highly recommended though but I’m still a little nervous

Maintain my car very well and never have any issues but this year first time ever I get a quiet word of the tester, luckily not documented as not a real issue this year but said due to lack of miles, less than 2000 a year, my tyres may need replacing by the next mot although perfectly fine this year. The tyres have no wear on them at all but aging rubber is the reason.

It's not worth it, looks like new car time, I'll just have to change my view on what I want

That’s not good when they fail, especially if it’s expensive as it sounds like it is. Would you list the failure points and the car you have and we may be able to offer some advice.

I put six through every year so know how awkward it can be. Just reminded me I need to book one soon too!

If you think that’s bad, try getting an mot on a bike when the panniers are on it, packed, for a road trip...made hubbies backside twitch like a rabbits nose ...

Thanks but I bought it privately and it had been covered up that it had been in a collision, they had obviously never claimed for it as it wasn't written off.

It's my brother who's done my MOT - He has forbidden me from driving it put it that way.

Off to buy a new car it is.

Cardiff

I often use the local council. They MOT their own vehicles.

They have to provide that service to us, the public.

They don't carry out repairs for the public. It's about as much of an honest assessment as what you can get.

Ah that’s really not good. If you trust your brother which I’m sure you do. Especially as he’ll want you to be safe but not rip you off. Definitely sounds like it’s not worth fixing.

Hopefully you can bring him along with you when your looking at the next one.

Good luck.
