Anyone notice the BBC have changed the font they use for on screen banners and graphics.?

Particularly noticeable in news programmes

I dislike it ...

My thread languishing 20 odd pages down the forum... no response

Clearly it’s only me sad enough to notice the new font ..

News is on now ... come on folks check it out and let’s have your feedback on the font

Yes, maybe ... especially as it’s not just national programming that has changed to this new fo t, but it’s been rolled out across the regions as well

Anyway ... what do you think of the new font , nice or nono?

I haven't noticed but then again I don't watch TV much. They used to change the fonts every year.

I remember when they went mental in the 90's and had loads of fancy indents made. I particularly liked the one of a big number 2 falling into a pile of dandruff.

Have been doing some research - it’s called BBC Reith (named after the first Director General of the BBC) and replaces Gill Sans

Saves money apparently

I still dislike it ...

I haven't seen it in all its guises yet. They were using one that everyone can use on their own computers so that leads to familiarity and acceptance. Introducing a new font is always tricky when you ask people to engage with the unfamiliar.

I like fonts so seeing the development of a new one is good. How they use it will tell us whether it is broad enough to manage the news and light entertainment.
