Now I'm going to get people going off on one over this about how they're having fun and whatnot. But has anyone noticed the steady decline in maturity of threads on the forums over the past couple of months. Daily the forums are spammed with threads that read like they're made by a 13 year old, or threads just specifically aimed at one person, even worse when it's a man about a specific woman as it smacks of 'look at me and like me please!?!?' I mean theres currently a thread on a poo knife for christs sake.

I only actually discovered the forum yesterday, was told about it by a friend. So I couldn’t possibly comment. I did see the poo knife thing though and was confused  |

I think it's great to have a mixture of different threads.
Some funny, some silly, some more serious, but I get what you mean as some of them seem like in jocks or just for their friends and their does see to be an abundance of them at the moment. It's good to have a balance. |

Personally I think the forum could do with more immature threads like the poo knife and funny subjects. It's better than threads bashing certain groups ect. The forum is meant to be a bit of fun, serious stuff can go in the other forum sections.

I don't mind the mix, we can all choose where and when to post.
I do feel a bit sorry for people who ask a serious question but get a whole load of jokey responses, I know I'm guilty of the odd sarky reply myself though. |

I started a thread the other day about the dumbing down in the forums, most of the people with something interesting to say have been forced out and now we’re left with vapid threads that are designed to keep up appearances. Comments like ‘I dunno what that means’. If I don’t know what something is about I Google it then comment. Then there’s other people who feel compelled to comment on every thread no matter how banal their comment is, cause heaven forbid they should just let a thread go if they have nothing to add. |

The thing is though the people who don't like the "immature" threads don't actually start any other than to slag those ones off.
If there were more "intellectual" threads then people could post on them, yes there will still be those who joke around but it takes time to shift the way of things, the forum vibe is forever changing, it is possible to guide it if people are willing to put the work in. |

Then there’s other people who feel compelled to comment on every thread no matter how banal their comment is, cause heaven forbid they should just let a thread go if they have nothing to add.
TLDR;
I don’t know what that means. But I am going to google rather than ask I don’t want to get told off

It was said with my tongue firmly planted in cheek I honestly have total apathy about the quality of forum threads, mature or otherwise. They’re just a way to pass some time while on the bog, waiting for a train or any other mundane task.

But has anyone noticed the steady decline in maturity of threads on the forums over the past couple of months. Daily the forums are spammed with threads that read like they're made by a 13 year old, or threads just specifically aimed at one person, even worse when it's a man about a specific woman as it smacks of 'look at me and like me please!?!?' I mean theres currently a thread on a poo knife for christs sake.

are you saying OP that we all including you lack a high IQ to banter on fab forums! So I did not pass my 11 plus on fab school swingers. Still I am doing a degree in Psychology! |
