London.
When I was a nurse in London me and my partner lived in Coventry. Less than an hour on a train to Euston and could get a 3 bedroom house. This was less commuting time than a rented cellar flat we could have just about afforded in London.
What does London have for the “average”’worker compared to other commutable areas? I always wondered how a shop worker could afford to live anywhere near the west end. I know some nurses were commuting for over 90 minutes at the end of 12 hour night shift.
Also loads of smaller style supermarket shops but I never saw a large supermarket so I guess everything is delivered.
I’m not slagging London off, but unless you can afford to be in a nice house or area what’s the attraction? |

My son lives in Scotland, and deffo seems to be the place to be.
Edinburgh and Dundee are great cities, full of character, culture and brilliant vibe, yet house prices are a fraction of what they would be in England.

I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than live in London, or any city.
Find me a beach, or a tumbledown cottage in a secluded valley by a stream and I may never come out of the cave again.... |

I worked at The Cromwell Hospital in London but couldn't afford to live there so commuted over 4hrs daily for the priveledge. In the end, the travelling took it's toll and even though my salary was unbelievable, and I loved my job, I hated stinky London in the end and left. I wouldn't even contemplate living there now after experiencing the grime for years. |

"Too many people wrapped up in their own little worlds in London"
This is what I love about cities! However as others have said to visit London is great but would rather live in Gods own country!! I guess for some certain types of sectors of work London will have more job availability than other cities/towns? |
