Have you ever visited somewhere and thought 'wow, that was crap''
I visited Alcatraz and was bored within 5 minutes and left.
Flying over the Grand Canyon was another... I was like 'it's just a big cliff' |

The Knossos Palace, Crete.
The cultural and architectural centre of the Minoan age. There was more concrete and rebuilding there than in the centre of Malia. |

In 20 years when the trees have grown it will improve it a bit, but the memorials were all higgledy, with the Police and the Co op!! mixed in with the Royal Engineers, very strange. |

Rome springs to mind. I chose it for my honeymoon after watching "Roman Holiday" and fell in love with it.
When I went there in 1998, it was like a building site, as the city was getting ready for 2000.
Perhaps I was with the wrong person and was not able to recreate some of the on-screen romanticism with my ex-hubby. Hence he is an ex I guess.

"The Tate Modern, what a load of bollocks!
Couldn't agree more. Someone is taking the piss with some of the exhibits I've seen. "
... pee on the beach, scoop it up and et voila ........ sand flowers exhibits.
Read about an 'artist' who did that once. |

There was literally just a signpost.
I also hated London with a passion."

It's the end of the land, then the sea starts |

"the Tate modern art gallery London, in 1997..
place hurt my head with the CRAP art!-I had to leave really quick"
video examples:
guy naked with a bag on his head and jumping repeatedly...
two screens, one with a white woman, one with a black man, each stating they're either a man or woman with some other words joined in...
Oh!, the juxtaposition of it all...wonderful lol |

"
I don't 'get' the Mona Lisa either, it's just a picture of a miserable ugly italian bint. |

Different strokes for different folks lol.
I can't tell you how much I looked forward to being there, only to find it wasn't my cup of tea
ps. I did sent Florence a "thanks, but no thanks" message afterwards |

To many of those who visit the NMA to remember loved ones who have fallen serving their country the place is not a dissapointment at all... |

I'd forgotten that...that said a minor blip, I dragged my kids around the park for three days and was disappointed they cried at some of the characters. I loved it! |

never really gone to 'places' but i found london a horribly drab place that was way too busy, and i was sneezing black snot for the whole of the next day. gladly spent most of my time in hyde park (just a big field if memory serves, hardly a bloody park) |

Just about everywhere I have ever been, which suffers from tourist hype, has been a bit of a let down and I am ready to move on after a short while.
Yet, there are places I have stumbled upon without the aid of any tourist guide and sat for hours in wonderment.

Mount Olympus in Cyprus. Don't know what I was expecting, but a big hole with trees cut down wasn't it.
Best place has been turning a corner on the road in the Highlands, looking back at Ben Nevis with the cloud base round it- was spectacular! |

and, i mus say IRELAND i was disappointed with.
friendliest nation on earth my arse!!!
very very ignorant a lot of people i have met.
in fact, was over on my bike last summer and run out of petrol. we were pushing it for the best part of an hour when a lady on a bike stopped and asked if we needed help, at which point a fella also pulled up and offered a lift to the nearest petrol station, whereas in the uk i KNOW any amount of bikers would have stopped and pillioned me to a local petrol station. |

Its a shit hole, you wouldnt believe how bad the locals treat the main income of their country
Have you seen the idiot abroad when he went over? i was laughing my socks off as thats just whats its like, land fills and rubbish tips all around the tourists and people go by the thousands ever year to see this |
