I have lots of mosquito bites and they are so very itchy and sore plus some are also very hot and swollen. Some have bruises around them because I've scratched them so much !
Any tips on what to use to stop them itching ?
Also what do people use to prevent them biting ? I have some wrist/ankle bands to use to keep them away now .. hopefully ! |

Try antihistamines throughout summer will not stop the little sods from biting but will help to reduce the itching.
Also try B1 pills you won't taste so nice to the mozzies then. Thiamine, found in B1 is an irritant to them. Be aware that prolonged use may upset your mineral balance. Vit B1’s effectiveness is weakened through alcohol,
Timed release ones are better.

Tell the mosquitoes you take been bitten very seriously and issue them a written warning..
To stop the itching I'd recommend a chainsaw.. though that could be a tad harsh |

"Tea tree essential oil. Failing that try to piss on them "
I'm using that (tea tree oil) at the moment and it's helped a bit.
I'm now contemplating standing in the bath pissing on myself anyone for water sports ? ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

"Have a look o; google
I’m sure there is loads of ideas
That’s where I would look"
I've done that but i'd like to get something that works rather than something a company is promoting. |

I tend to rub some spirit on. It disinfects the area (broken skin if scratched already) and reduces itching.

I got badly bitten on holiday in April. Despite, plug in , sprays and wrist bands.
I came home and went to Dr who advised the swelling and marks around them was actually an allergic reaction to them.
He gave me antihistamine cream and pills (4 a day) they made a big difference.
I also found calamine lotion and a bath with some banking soda helped too |

Oh poor you! Likenorhers have said, you need an antihistamine cream now and buy that Avon Soft and Gently oil to put on to keep the buggers away, it really does work. ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

The best repellant I've found is a combo oil of citronella and eucalyptus.
Leaves you smelling nice and Mediterranean too
Antihistamine cream or general tablets e.g. piriton are the best cure.
Failing that make sure you're standing next to a woman, as they're more prevalent to be bitten than a man ![](/icons/s/2/halo.gif) |

Mozzies and bitey creatures love me
Not going outside at dawn or dusk helps - they love those times of day - they lurk around in the dark waiting to bite you
And antihistamines take away some of the itch.
Or if you have an urge to scratch then use your fingernail to put a cross on them - that helps a bit.

Skin So Soft from Avon to help stop them biting in the first place....the only thing that worked for me once bitten was wet flannels on the bites, which is a bit difficult if you have many but it does help |

I stand next to someone who gets bitten alot, that way, I don't get bitten at all.
It does mean I have to hide behind tree's and then sort of follow them, but not in a "man in woods with knife and cable ties" way
Just in the way of man hiding in woods following people who get bitten alot by mozzies type of way
