Does anyone that travels alone or has done in the past got any suggestions on where to go?
I've got lots of holiday saved up and need to use it before September, thinking of booking a last minute getaway about for 4-7 nights.
Does anyone have places to recommend?Swinging-friendly suggestions are also welcomed but not essential, just looking to go abroad |

As a Single guy, I have always travelled alone.
Once in a resort, I found the Tour Reps have been the best to know the off-beat areas, bars etc as these are usually the best "non-touristy" parts. In some places, reps would get lots of freebie entry tickets to Clubs etc, more than they could ever use, so I could get one or two for myself from them.
Research your local area. I always travel on local transport, as it's cheaper, especially if you use a bit of their language.
Years ago, I visited Ibiza. On 2 separate times, I went to the South of the Island, where I had heard there was a nudist beach. From there, I got 2 meets one on each visit. |

For a short (non-swinging) break you could try Malta as it's a short flight, a gorgeous place with good nightlife and a popular place for solo travellers.
Swinging wise Gran Canaria might be your best bet. |

I haven't really considered resorts, mainly because I thought they'd cost more than a regular hotel.
The tour reps tip is really good to know if I decide to go clubbing or any other place that needs tickets |

I've been to New York and Amsterdam quite recently so I'm not looking to book there again (at least for a while)!
Berlin seems like a decent place to go, did you get up to a lot while you were there? I was also looking into Belgium but still on the fence with it |

Malta seems like a pretty good option too, the last minute flights are looking pretty attractive right now!
What's GC like for a single guy? |

I've been to Rome so I don't necessarily want to go again!

You can book everything online if you do a little forward planning and research where you want to be or what is of interest. Local trains, car hire, coaches, museums, boat tours all get advanced discounts, staying in airbnb as an alternative to hotels are usually cheaper. If you want to stay in one place or multiple locations, look at what is available then book trains, coaches or get on a bus to get you to each. I only know this as a friend of mine travelled the length of Italy for 10 days for just over £400 - from Rome to Florence. I am not sure if flights were included in that too, I can't remember, but I expect they would have been cheap if not. |

I'll check it out!
Tbh I really fancy a beach holiday and lakes are pretty similar in nature.
Does Verona have good transport? I don't want to spend a fortune on a taxi, and I'm not keen on driving in a different country! |

For a future trip Thailand, Vietnam or Cambodia are great for the solo traveller. I generally just book a flight, a couple of days in a hotel close to the action, then see what I fancy. Two hours on a bus you’re in Pattaya or eight hours at the border of Cambodia. Not as cheap as it once was, but still a lot cheaper than Europe |
