We live in a small village and we have just got talking to someone, literally within half a mile..

Just wondered how close you all class as too close for comfort? Any opinions welcomed, just wanted to find out everyone else's views!

All depends on what you are happy with if you don’t mind people knowing or if you want to keep it totally quiet I would say to close but that’s Down to him as well as some others don’t like people knowing

I won't meet anyone I could potentially bump into in the supermarket or similar scenario. The cynic in me can't trust anyone to maintain discretion.

I prefer not to shit on my own doorstep as i live in a very small close knit community... i won't meet anyone within a 20 or 30 mile radius usually

I'd say personally I'd like to think nothing negative can come of it however that's not always the case. If I got to know someone pretty well and trusted them then yeah, I would be comfortable being so close, however you never really know people and what they can be capable of it you get on their wrong side, and that can be easy to do even though you'd not think it!

I had a fuck buddy who lived in the same suburb. He was friends with my neighbour as I later discovered, that combined with his becoming clingy lead to a very careful termination of our relationship.

I'd generally not, when I will be hardly able to know someone well enough to decide, nor keep a big distance between me and them, if it turns uncomfortable

Reply privately, Reply in forum +quote or View forums list

By (user no longer on site)  over a year ago

I dont know really, there is always the assumption that people will turn weird, no reason they should, they're just people but it might put me off if I thought I might bump into them regulary.

Keeping 'swinging' as a seperate identity I suppose is easier if people are further away. If more of a friendship was wanted with people you trust, local would be easier

I got talking to someone on here and eventually we worked out we live 4 streets apart!! The neighbourhood around here has too many nosey neighbours so we agreed that's far too close for comfort and decided not develop things any further.

I live in a small town and most of my meets have lived in the same town. We are all adults wanting discretion and I've not had an issue. For me it's very convenient.

Close can be exciting or a bloody nightmare. Have met married females whose hubby have no idea. To see them walking down the street together can be interesting

There's no such thing as too close for us. We've often bumped into swinging friends in town, which is fine by us - after all, other people don't know how we know each other.

I'm not interested in getting to know locals. That's just my preference though. I don't think it's such a bad thing if you're comfortable with it. Being close probably comes in very handy when you both fancy some sexy fun and you can say "I'LL BE THERE IN 30 SECONDS!"

Meeting someone from my own town is way too close for me. I have a very public job, serving a high number of many different people. So it wouldn’t be in my best interest to meet with anyone that is likely to come in.

That said, a chap who I met off another site and decided not to play with after meeting for a social, came in with his family. He lived in a town 11 miles away and had called in on the way to the airport. I let it slipped where I worked (the early days of me meeting people off the internet). So don’t know whether it was intentional or not, but I was very discreet of course, since it works both ways and knew he wouldn’t dare try anything in front of his family. He messaged me much later to explain, but I never answer. I never saw or heard from him again.

If it wasn’t for my job, I probably still wouldn’t meet anyone from the same town.

London is huge so easy to get lost and I’ve never met anyone that lives in my postcode

But there was a guy from Scotland I saw once and he walked down the street as I was outside a pub with my mates, it was one of those “oh shit” moments, but he behaved and texted 5 mins later

I'm often out on the sea, kayak, sup, boat.

I'm taking no chances

Would you want to bump into them at a later date say in the local Tesco or out walking the dog.

I once met a local ish couple, 6 miles away and I cringe every time I see them in town.
