my auntie used to make a dish which she called 'cheese and egg'
it was delish, but very few people i have mentioned it to have had it
it's basically 2 eggs cracked in a shallow pyrex dish, covered in milk and with slices of cheese placed on top
grind some black pepper over the top and bake in the oven
not good if you have a diary allergy if you're watching your cholesterol i guess, but i remember really loving it when i was younger
so let's share some simple old style home cooking recipes
can we have as few mentions of thick cut chips cooked in beef dripping as possible please - especially when placed between fresh white bread with best butter on
me sat drooling is not my best look ! |

Chicken stew the old fashioned way.
After Sunday dinner strip what is left of the chicken and put in a stew pot.
Any left over veg gets thrown in.
Slice/cube some onion
add chicken stock, salt, black pepper and a touch of garlic.
Add water and let it all simmer on a low light for a few hours.
Tastes even better the following day with dumplings or yorky puds |
