The article stated that other passengers had complained about the woman's clothing so yes, if it were a guy and complaints were received of course they would take action.

If it were causing offence and it sounds like it was, she should cover up. There are obviously children on there too. Airlines do state that people should be suitably dressed. I wonder if she was allowed to board dressed like that, it should have been addressed then. Men also should be suitably dressed. |

Well it is all subjective isn't it? Because it is not a man in this scenario.
Remember she wasn't booted off for her clothing, she was booted off her aggression towards staff and that I am afraid is justified.
Just a point, it is not appropiate for anyone to walk about indecently. As for complaining if it were a guy then probably not, but then I wouldn't of complained about her either I don't think.
But I understand why people did, especially if it were families travelling.

Well it is all subjective isn't it? Because it is not a man in this scenario.

Even if there were children on board is it not quite sad to see that we are teaching and enforcing the view on to our children that women's boobs even when they are covered should be viewed as wrong or naughty?

It sounds like she had her nipples showing, I assume they meant bare as opposed to covered but erect and no, I don't think it is something that our children should think is acceptable  |

Airline travel used to be a privilege - now it's often treated with no respect whatsoever.
I don't want top be hypocritical as I've taken advantage of some very low cost fares to go on my jollies myself, but when you see hen / stag parties coming through the airport with their silly (often rude) outfits and combine this with the amount of booze consumed before they even get on the flight, it often makes me wonder why airlines don't enforce zero-tolerance policies.

Agreed.
And by ensuring children resprct their bodies we can do that, we also want to teach children that there is a certain level of propierty that needs to be adhered too in social situations.

I believe the lady had a sheer top on and the nipples could be seen but were not bare. |

I agree, I wonder how some of those, who appear d*unk are allowed to board, it's uncomfortable for other passengers, but more importantly, a safety risk. As for dress code, just try and respect others for a few hours |

I haven't seen the footage but if several people complained then there was obviously some kind of issue. I've never been asked to change my top on a flight and nor has anyone that I know.
As has been said..It was probably the attitude of the woman that caused the greatest offence. |

As I said above, that's my understanding too.It was obviously causing offence to others, for there to be complaints. She covered up when asked but was disruptive, to me that would be more of an issue from a safety point of view, so for that reason, she was rightly removed. |

This is where you'll see the difference in quality between airlines. Low cost carriers will probably turn a blind eye as off-loading the bags from an aircraft takes time and they will incur a delay which costs money. However, still not as bad as having to divert the aircraft due to d*unken behaviour and the bad press which goes along with it. |

I suppose its down to self respect and a time and a place etc and I suppose a woman can take her top off in a park, I personally would keep that for the beach. |

I suppose in a confined public space such as an aircraft then there needs to be consideration for others. It wouldnt bother me but I can understand others may not feel that way. |

I don't think we are enforcing that view. But what we are doing is trying to teach children what are and aren't appropriate places to touch and be touched, to protect them from those who might seek to harm them, and by that reasoning breasts are classified as 'private areas'. If anyone thinks breasts aren't sexualised, regardless of not being a sexual organ, they only have to read any of the thousands of threads dedicated to them on here to see just how misguided they are. I'm a woman, I have breasts, and I know their effect. |
