When did you first Fall In Love?

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

I was a bit of an awkward looking nerdy kid at school and I was teased a lot because of my height. I didn't really pay attention to boys until I hit the age of 13. My "All-Girl's School" was built next to an "All-Boy's School" I noticed my "first true love" through a fence, watching him play football. I married him aged 22. His family were millionaires, I was picked up by his Dad for our dates in a Rolls Royce. They are mostly happy memories.

Do you remember when "you first got the feels"? How old were you. How long did it last? Did you marry your childhood sweetheart like me?

i had lots of infatuations from an early age, but I first really fell for a girl when I was 14. Sadly our relationship was short-lived due to the sly, jealous, back-stabbing, untruthful actions of my so-called best friend. It still feels slightly painful to recall those feelings of unrequited love. I think the experience adversely affected all future relationships and the tarnishing of my reputation unconsciously drove my behaviour to fulfil the reputation I was given. I’ve struggled with the demon born of that experience since.

I didn't fall in love until I was about nineteen or so.

She was honestly like no one else I'd met before or met since - full of love and so much energy and passion and vigour for everything. When she spoke to you you felt like you were caught up in her whirlwind of life and that her sole focus was you. Her intelligence and tenacity were mirrored in my own. We argued like fuck but gosh it was good when it worked.

We dated for around three years or so and it was all consuming and intense. Sadly it didn't last but it's shaped my views and behaviours on relationships both platonic and sexual. For better and worse.

I dont know that I fall in love more like a weird obsessional infatuation. I remember the first who I expressed it to and he is probably still running 22 yrs later. I learnt a few lessons about how to keep most of the obsessional infatuation stuff inside and just let the sweet bits show

I'm so sorry to hear that. My Nanny married 5 times abd fell in love in her 80s. She always kept positive about finding love again. All her husbands died though. We used to laugh that she would be investigated as a gold digger. She wasn't, just outlived them. What I'm try to say is hopefully one day you will find someone.

In the middle

I first fell in love in1978, went onto marry him but after 20 years I called it quits, in 2008 I met a rather lovely chap who I had a swinging relationship with and we had lots of fun together, his ill health and family situation drive us apart in the end, and about 5 years ago I started charting to someone who broke down my walks, who kiss melted my heart, who made me laugh like a child at farts and stupid stuff, who gave me confidence, we could sit quiet and just enjoy music or watching a film, we visited places together and I truly loved him, I used to joke that sometimes he could see the love hearts popping out my eyes at him it was s gentle sensual love and I think it was the best of all

I was 10 y/o. So was she. We kissed on a school trip. It lasted about a week. Until she traded me with another girl, 'boyfriend' for 'boyfriend'. Broke my heart until I found out it was fishfingers fir tea and all was well in the world again. I remember her name and can still see her in my minds eye although I haven't seen her since I was 11.

My first love I was with from 14 to almost 18. He got d*unk and kissed my ex friend who was throwing herself at him on a night out. I punched him in the face, punched her and then went to punch him again before the bouncers lifted me up and put me outside. I had my one and only one night stand that night as went and fucked the cousin of someone he knew and returned to the home we shared the next morning

Amusingly his mum (who I adored) rang my mum to tell her that he had got a rebound girl who was almost my double. (this was while I was having daily phone calls to take him back). The last I heard they were still together. He kept adding me on Facebook and she kept making him delete me.

I fell in love in 1996 with my best friend at the time, he still makes my heart flutter to this day he is my world. You would think after all these years the love would fade but not for me, it has deepened and grows more each day.

My first love was when I was 14. He was the same age and we were both socially awkward and shy, but it was a lovely relationship that lasted a year and was revisited a few times in the subsequent 2 years. He professed to still love me when we were in our 20's.

I was 19 when I first met him . I was married but very unhappy (got married at 16 as I was pregnant and it seemed like the right thing to do, it wasn't) anyway we met on line and over 2 years built this amazing connection. I took the plunge and went to Manchester to meet him. It was quite an experience. Over the years we saw each other often. He broke my heart a few times. Married his first wife. Left her . I finally divorced my husband, but he had found wife no 2! He's now about to divorce her. We are still friends but that's all. I think I had a lucky escape

Really nice, and you just know that the other person loves you. You don’t get cheated on, there’s no violence or mind games. And you both support each other, not just all one way.

I guess

I was 15, he was a bit older. We lost our virginity together. We were together about 10 months and had as much sex as we could squeeze in between observant conservative parents, A and O levels. He went on to pursue his dreams in the face of considerable parental opposition and made a success of them. He looks amazing now.

It can be bloody hard to find that. It's very hard to find someone that carries no risks in that what's happened in the past, will happen again with them and be a repeat of the old pain? Is any love better than none at all? Absolutely not in my opinion x

I fell for a girl when I was 16, she was so far out of my league but we'd been friends for a while and a moonlit stroll on the beach one summer night led to us kissing and getting together, it didn't last very long as they don't at that age, but it was sweet while it did.

I'm a big soul boy, huge part of my life since I was around 11/12yo

Still regularly attending allnighters, weekenders and anything northern soul related.

Big vinyl collector and love the rvo nights that has an authenticity about it that you don't get with digital music and half the pleasure is knowing that the guy playing it has probably got 10 stories about how he aquired that particular record.

You'll often find me digging through record stores and random places looking for a gem

Worthing

I was 12 years old. At the time I was a typical lad...footie, rock music etc. Went on a school field trip and the girl in question stood behind me while on a class visit to a museum. She moved close to an exhibit and stood to my right. I turned to look at her. That moment will live with me forever. I thought she was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.

I'm not a love at 1st sight person but when I was 15 I saw the most beautiful guy. We moved in the same circles and got to know each other and I loved him totally from the beginning

3 children and many trial and tribulations later we separated after 18 yrs. I still loved him and him I, but it no longer worked.

We became great friends, there for each other. Sadly he passed away just before Christmas. Leaving a legacy of 3 kids and 2 beautiful grandkids and many good memories. RiP T x

Did you marry your childhood sweetheart like me?"

It was in Greggs.

I whipped out my sex bat and battered an old lady to death with it because I loved her.

She died.

"My first love was unrequited, I was 14 and besotted, he saw me as his kids sister's dorky mate.

Then there was my ex, who broke my heart and my spirit.

But honestly, I've never been more in love than I am now...I've found my person and tbh, what I feel for him pisses all over anything I've felt for anyone else in the past.

That's wonderful for you, especially after all you have been through. Shall I buy a hat anytime soon "

Not anytime soon...but one day, I hope

I'll rephrase. I'm not fall in loveable.

Love you too......muchly. "

I spent my teenage years falling in and out of love. I was more romantic than Barbra Cartland. And our Fifth form had some exceptionally handsome fellas.

Plus Rick Astley was about *swoon*

Morten Harket *swoon swoon*

And i had a bit of a thing for Cary Elwes and Lindsay Buckingham.

Happy Days

I 'fell in love' when I was about 14 with a boy, that lasted on and off for a couple of years, we went out (you know the usual when you are that age 'will you go out with me?' and you never actually go out) for a bit but I stayed in love with him until we left school. I met up with him a few years back and he is such a knob.

I fell in love with my ex husband when I was 20 and we married not long after, he was a childhood friend and we stayed together for 15 years.

But I now know what love actually is, I obviously didn't know what love was until I met doughnut.

I can say I’ve never been in love. I’ve cared for the people I’ve been with and would, and did, do anything for them but love no.

The only true love is for my lad

I was 16 first time but I never got to marry her as she dumped me two years later for a mate of my brother. As they eventually married and were together a long time she made a good choice.

In some respects, you are very lucky to be able to share your love with your child. That is something I've never felt. Do you think one day you will find love romantically?

Honestly Dana I don’t think I will. I don’t intend on having another relationship and not actively looking for one either.

However, I don’t suppose anyone can ever really say no, if it happens it happens. One of my uncles found love for the first time at 85

I am very lucky to have my lad, it’s something I never thought I’d have and he wasn’t planned, but I’d not change it either

Well, I thought I fell in love at 16, looking back I fell in love with the freedom of being out of the family home until 10pm and someone with a car.

Then I thought I fell in love with my sons dad, we were together 7 years. I do have an awful lot of respect for him nowadays, I do think I loved him at some point but things change and different sides to people show.

Then after that I thought I fell in love with my ex. Tried for 11 years to make it work, I was blindsided and tricked by a narcissist, so I didn't love him, I loved the ideals and lies he spun me.

Then I met B, and that was the moment I realised I had no idea what real intensely achingly beautiful love was up until that point...

Thank you Dana, I think I needed to go through all the crap stuff then spend a few years on my own to be able to find myself, then I did (although I still am of sorts) it happened... When I wasn't looking and least expecting it!

I first fell in love when I was 17..and he became my husband... For a long time... But then I fell in love again and it was only then as I hit my 40th birthday did I realise what true love is. Sadly that ended too and I experienced the real pain of my heart breaking. I'm not sure I'll ever find that again... Maybe we aren't meant too... But I live in hope... One day xx

There and to the left a bit

My first love was a girl I started seeing just before I was 16 - we'd known each other for years before that it lasted until I was 17 and a half and was a typical first love situation, we were very rarely out of each other's company and totally besotted - then I joined the Navy and we took what we thought at the time was the "grown up" decision to split up as I would likely be away for long periods - trouble was when things started getting tough in the Navy (for unrelated reasons) the homesickness and missing her kicked in, and ultimately led to me leaving before finishing my training - a decision I have regretted for the rest of my life. When I left she was already with another guy, who she ended up marrying and is still with today as far as I know.

Ironically I think had we not made the "grown up" decision and had stayed together we'd have split up naturally at some point and I probably would have had the career I had dreamed of - not that I blame her in the slightest, it was the "unrelated reasons" that sparked the homesickness and missing her, which led to me using them as an excuse to leave I think.

Still think of her fondly off and on and am pleased for her she has had a good life.

Oh god "The things we do for love", but you were very young at the time and at that age, I guess we didn't really think of the impact it would have in our later years?

Exactly that - I was a young arrogant 17 and a half year old who thought he knew better
