That hypothetical pint on a night out

Past or present, real or fictional...where would yours be?

Mine would be in the Blind Beggar in Whitechapel, March 9th, 1966. Ron would be looking over staring and Reg would turn to him and say something like "Leave it Ron, they're fackin' Burminum boys".  I'd nod sagely in the direction of Reg and just for surrealism, Belle &  Sebastian would be playing an acoustic set in the corner. At the end of the gig I'd take my leave, just brushing past George Cornell as he  hesitantly approaches in the opposite direction with a look of trepidation on his face.

I've got a macabre if not slightly misguided admiration for all things old school gangster, those non-conformists that take a well and truly different path.

If it wouldn't be a night our with the Krays then I'd take a night in 'Cheers'.  Cliff Clavin is currently making me laugh out loud on a daily basis before I leave for work in the morning. He's got to be one of the all time greatest sitcom characters.

"You've come back to us! "

For now but the chase is fercious and persistent, survival is far from guaranteed.

That pub's on my to do list.

Today it would be Guiness, assuming it's been quality tested by others first.

Spoons...as in Wetherspoons? Not on this thread, sonny.

If ever a post needed an interrobang, eh?

Mods! Off with this man's head.

How could I choose anything but...

A pint with torch in sammys (now the angel).

Amongst many things we’d discuss a couple of fab birds tits before parting ways with a knowing nod.

It may well be the first time I’ve exited that particular establishment in the Danny’s era by anything other than the front window.
