Are you or do you know a fussy eater? More specifically an adult fussy eater.
The kind that, for example, they get a burger and it comes with tomato but they don't like tomatoes and refuse to eat it. They won't pick off the tomato because "it's already touched the burger".
It can be a little annoying going out for a meal with them.
Oh well, sunny and hot weather at the weekend! |

Yes
It's no fun for them either
It makes normally social situations very stressful
Being a 'fussy eater' can develop beyond that into eating disorders and food phobias
For some their eating habits are an extension of their mental health |

I will eat ANYTHING! Except aniseed and liquorice.
I don’t actually know a fussy eater at all. |

This
I'm extremely fussy and have certain issues with how food is eaten. It can sometimes be extremely embarrassing especially when other people ( family included) make it a bigger issue
I now avoid certain situations because it makes me stress out.
As a result of my food habits , I've ensured my children eat literally anything put in front of them so they never have to go through what I do on occasions.
My sister is the same , in fact she is worse. I blame my mother but that's another story ! |

I wish more people would consider this. It can be a nightmare. I check menus on line before I go if possible and always double check with servers if there are extra things that may accompany the meal but aren’t detailed on the menu. When I was younger it was so much worse. I never used to eat out anywhere especially not at other peoples houses. |

C is a fussy eater but mainly due to texture issues.
I could be considered a fussy eater because I'm vegan.
Both of us have allergies though which doesn't help. Which is one of the reasons I'm vegan |

I apologise to the fussy eaters but ... I NEVER want to go out to eat with you or cook for you or do anything involving food with
you!
It's not only irritating it's boring when you're picking at your food and picking out bits of it with a face on
I can forgive children for it just about - but if you're an adult and you can't eat any vegetables you need to have words with yourself!
Watch Freaky Eaters - it's so irritating!
This is you. |

I am a fussy eater.
Or maybe I have very sensitive taste buds, who knows?
Using the example in the OP: if I want a burger, I order a plain one. If I still get it with lettuce, tomato, whatever; it's returned. No big deal.
Only time I get stressed is when I'm on a 'sun holiday' when fish is the main option for tourists in restaurants on the seafront. Shocking stuff, I know Tbf it's not the options on the menu that cause me stress, it's the notion that everyone with me is hungry and I might be inconveniencing them if there's nothing on the menu I like but luckily enough there is no shortage of restaurants.
When it comes to eating in other people's homes and vice versa; I eat what they like, and they eat what I like, respectively. Just kidding
Apologies if that was too much waffling for this time of the day. |

it bugs the shit out of me.
Adults can surely have a tomato on their food without causing problems.
Grow up!

I won’t eat anything that has touched cucumber or melon. I ask wait staff to let the chef know I don’t want those things in my food. If they put them in my food I will send it back. It’s very simple. I don’t see why I should pay for something I won’t eat. |

Looked up the name of the thing they have in them - Phenylthiocarbamide! That’s why some people are genetically predisposed to tasting cucumber and melon as extremely bitter rather than just of nothing. |

I totally get problems with food usually start at a young age therefore fussy kids should see a pediatrician. I'm not fussy with food I'd probably eat something I didnt like if I was hungry. Maybe I'm just greedy |

I'm not remotely myself, I'm not a fan of processed foods but otherwise, aside from a few things like aniseed, sprouts and anchovies, I'll eat anything really.
I have a couple of friends who are fussy eaters, only annoying if I'm cooking for them though tbh. |
