So it’s day 15 now since I went passed a mobile camera in the car on the motorway at around 85, so far no nip. Am I ok now as I believe they’re only allowed 14 days to get the nip to you?
It’s my own car registered to my address.
Cheers for any advice.

"The date of the notice itself has to be within 14 days of the alleged offence. Not when you actually receive it. "

You’re fine mate, the NIP does have to be with you inside the 14 days. The man in the camera van was obviously pointing his camera at another car as you went past. They can only do one at a time and on a busy motorway they can’t get everybody. |

Case law dictates that it has to be received by the known registered keeper within the 14 days. If one person wins the argument at court then everybody else is free to use that same argument in the same situation. David Beckham had his case thrown out as the NIP wasn’t received within 14 days. |

Well I’ve learnt my lesson, in fairness I never speed in the built up areas at all, that’s where an accident is likely to happen.
But I was naughty and if the police catch me I’ll take it in the chin.
Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

Well, we all speed. Haven't met anyone who doesn't exceed the speed limit occasionally. |

quote from DAS insurance "This 14-day period does not include the day of the offence and the couple of days to allow for postage of the NIP (Notice of Intended Prosecution). However, if you still did not receive the NIP within the time period you may have a valid defence." hope this helps DAS are providers of legal cover on insurance |
