When do you give up on a box set? After the first episode or do you stoically see the whole thing through?
Im watching a box set type series on netflix at the min and i’m drawn between seeing the story line through but 24 episodes is a bit much.... |

"I gave one up after about twenty minutes last night, Designated Survivor, people kept telling me how good it was so maybe my expectations were too high. "
You have to watch that one! I think it is brilliant |

I watched Black Earth Rising 8 episodes i was riveted but Diary of A Nightwatch man (24 episodes) i’m trying to force myself to continue. I do agree some you just let go of after the first few minutes. |

Usually a series needs a couple of episodes to set things up and get the storyline going.
I normally watch 2-3 episodes before saying what a load of crap and that’s a couple of hours of my life I won’t get back!!
Sometimes a series has me hooked from the start, Breaking Bad and Walking Dead spring to mind.

I got bored of that too, each episode was pretty much the same. |

"Any new box set/ series recommendations? "
I've started watching When They See Us and I'm only on episode two and it's really good. It does make you sad and angry though.
Ozark, OITNB, After Life and Dead to Me are a good watch too. |

I try to get through at least one season. I think its a better indication of how a show is going to be by watching a full story arc. A good example of this is Mad Men. It was always intriguing but episode to episode it felt like very little was happening but it all developed like a polaroid and the rewards by the end of a single season were huge.
My top 3- Mad Men, The Sopranos, Six Feet Under.
The West Wing gets honourable mention for its brilliant early years but the quality dropped with the departure of Aaron Sorkin as showrunner. |

"One episode and if not hooked...no more. Walking dead was one!"
Someone else with good taste
But i love most zombie related TV/Film so much so that i have reoccurring nightmares about them!!
I actually enjoy them as it’s like being in a real life zombie film!
