Speed Dating

Am playing wingwoman to my friend & accompanying her to a speed dating event next weekend. Am curious to see if it's a success & we like the supposed efficiency of the 3min time slots.

I have the pleasure of sitting at the bar as an observer & am really looking forward to it. Think Attenborough observing mating rituals...

My friend actually wants a relationship but is struggling with online dating as it feels too "hook up" for her.

Anyone done speed dating? How was it? Any tips? Literally asking for a friend!

I've done a few times. It's a good laugh at first but if you see the same faces again you run out of things to talk about, especially if they know I've ticked NO to them last time..

I don't pay for it anymore as the event organiser texts me when she is short of ladies. So for me it's an evening in a nice hotel bar spent drinking and hoping to meet new friends but I wouldn't pay for it again

Sounds like you've got a good set up there!

I suspect this'll just be a one off for my friend. She's fast becoming disallusioned by the whole dating thing!

It's only 3-5 minutes long each.. there's always a weather to talk about to kill the time I've actually made a few female friends that way so all is not lost

I'm really looking forward to going along although I guess I'm not as invested in the outcome as my friend but us humans are social animals afterall so it'll be good whatever. What's the worst that can happen right?!

I've been several times, nothing's ever come of it but it's always been a good night.
