I've never been on holiday on my own. Ever. But I'm thinking of taking in some winter sun. Now, 7 days doesn't feel long enough to get a proper tan but I'm worried that 10 or 14 days will be too long and I'll get bored with myself. What do you reckon? |

I've just got back from my first solo holiday and I was the same for you. I opted for 10 days in case I didn't like it but it was perfect. I would maybe go for 14 next time...
Have a great time... You'll love it!!! |

"Just do it.
I've done it a number of times now.
Thank you L. Was the first hol a bit daunting though?
Absolutely. But I wouldn't undo it. "
Brilliant. I'll have to pack my big boy pants and my knitted cozzy and go for it |

Don't know how you are socially. I've genrally found it difficult. But I've travelled a fair bit on my own and found the best thing is just to socialise with strangers. Even if it hard and/or scary just push yourself. Even if language is a barrier. You'll find you meet some intresting people and open up new oppertunity that will help make your holiday memorable. Don't just sit in the corner quietly and keep your self to your self. |

That last line John. That's exactly what I think I would do. I'm an introverted extrovert. |

"Here's a question. When you're solo-ing how do you get the sun cream on your back?
That's one of the imponderables I'm pondering "
Spray
I travelled around Southern Albania solo for 2 weeks a couple of years ago, had a wonderful time - highly recommend a solo holiday! Currently planning another, unless a naughty holiday pal appears on the horizon |

In the past year I've gone to Thailand on my own 3 times. Just got back in the past couple of weeks, 18 days there. Spent 21 days over Christmas and New Year and spent 11 days last May. My advice, go do it, you'll be surprised at the the amount of people you'll meet and talk to just by being on your own. You only die once so live every day. |

Ask yourself mate, what is stopping you? Just book it and go. The self relief, the confidence boost and self empowerment it gives you is amazing. Do it, you'll surprise yourself of what you're actually capable of. |

"Going on holiday on your own is great. I talk to anyone and everyone so always end up in a right big group
Excellent. I wish I could do that "
I felt exactly like this on my first solo trip a few years ago. I stayed in a hostel in Florence (in a private room with ensuite). I ended up meeting some lovely people...of all ages, from different parts of the world. I was free to go off and do my own thing and then meet up with them in the evening for dinner and drinks. It was the best thing I ever did and now I travel as much as I can (money and time permitting) ... as I have a huge travel bucket-list to get through.
As soon as you do your first trip OP, you will have wanderlust forever |

That's how I see it panning out in my mind's eye Missylou. I suppose I've just got to make it happen that way...... |
