When you message someone and you get a one word response to a question or message.

One word response in my view are as bad as one word messages first time.

This busts me OP, I think they'd be better just not replying if they ain't gonna contribute to the conversation. As said above, I would give them 1 more message with plenty for them to go on and if they still reply with just a short plain answer then I would move on

they are shit

they require a yes or no

I tend to send one or two words back to those who send one or two word messages... its a well known phrase and the other word is usually off

A one word reply from me is definitely an indication to me not wanting to continue conversation. Or the message was rude so one word is all the deserve.
