How hard is it to meet with people

I've joined this site to meet people with similar interests as me but I find it hard to start conversations 9 times out of 10 I get no reply is it me or am I doing it wrong with my approach I don't send nasty messages I'm genuinely trying to meet someone

Personally I’d never answer someone with no publics at all. Could be that.

Have one as a profile pic, even if it’s just your chest or something if you don’t want to use your face.

I'm far from sad and needy I'm new to this site I don't get offended by nasty comments so work away just after some feed back understand the way it works
