It’s probably just me but I really don’t like describing sex as dirty. As long as it’s consensual then sex is fun, sometimes sensual, sometimes kinky or rough. Dirty implies there’s something wrong or forbidden about it when it’s something natural and good.

I think the reason I prefer not to use it is because of the associations it has had Dirty Old Men in Flasher Macs Dirty Slapper etc.....
I prefer to use more descriptive terms - like in another thread where I used the term sexually imaginative as an alternative to dirty |

I (Luke) agree, OP.
I feel similar about naughty, but it's milder.
I think it's just terminology that gets a point across in a way that's understood, which is OK, but I'd prefer something less pejorative. |

I agree. It’s an of the moment description. But also, not everyone likes that kinda sex - each to their own. Overthinking the use of the term makes me feel like sex can’t be wanton, debauched, hedonistic and all consuming. Filthy/dirty just describes that oooooft rawwwwwrrrr primal urge type sex to me. |

I get what you mean when you describe that primal urge. I am interested why that conjures up words like dirty or filthy to describe something so natural. I wonder if it’s a hangover from more puritanical times when carnal drives were seen as bad. |

I like it in a way. Craving excitement, pushing the limits of acceptability and what's possible, just giving in to those urges and disposing of your usual manners. Sex isn't inherently dirty, but there's a frisson of unacceptability which I enjoy tapping into. |
