Do you ever find your response to a thread depends on who the OP is?
I know it's a common thing, men get different responses to women, newbies get different ones to regulars but I was just wondering if you're aware you do it?
Do you ever find yourself just jumping on the bandwagon? If a thread has gone a certain way do you just join in?
For me it's certainly not a conscious thing but I know I've been guilty of it. I'm just musing as to why that is. |

There is a thread today that I’ve replied to and I’m questioning whether I needed to express my view as it was similar to others.. I think some things trigger a response and the fingers seem to automatically type the reply |

If I know the OP is a wind up merchant and in for the giggles then yes, I don't take it seriously and roll with it.
If I'm unaware of the OP and their humour/posting style then I take it at face value and respond based on exactly my interpretation, no matter how others are reacting.

"A bit like a pub! You see a busy pub you’re more likely to go in. You see an empty pub and give it a miss "
I quite like empty pubs and threads but I’m more considered in how I behave in them, less auto-pilot |

Not usually. I'll take more liberties with someone I've got more of a sense of (more joking/ less straight laced) but generally I reply to the substance. Unless I know it's sarcastic then I'll just run with it. |

Some threads I refuse to even look at purely because I don't like the OP and know any response will be based on my dislike for them as a person rather than the subject.

True. There’s a couple of people I won’t comment on. |

I seem to get drawn into some threads, realise my opinion has already been shared, give it anyway and get ignored. A bit like the odd bloke in a pub who sits at the end of the bar and hijacks conversations - but in real life pubs I don't do that! Odd! |

I like everyone, so will randomly read posts, but yes my reply will vary depending on knowledge of the OP's style.
I mostly make an effort not to be helpful or focused, though I have been known to slip up from time to time and make an unintentional useful post... |

I've caught you before now! I've caught you opening up too and was quite humbled.

Not in so much the man/woman response but more in the I respond differently to those I know (or am comfortable with).
I alternate between being giddily chirpy with simple humour and a sarcastic, mocking, pretentious fucker - some posters are more likely to get the latter because I like them and feel relaxed around them.
Take yesterday for example - I had *the* perfect response to a thread but couldn't post it because after consulting my bestie it might be misconstrued as ouch not fantastic dry wit. |

There and to the left a bit |
I don't avoid threads because of who has posted them, although in some instances I'll know that the thread is going to be provocative just because of who posted it, but that won't necessarily shape my answer which, if I give one, will always be an open and honest, balanced and reasoned reply. |

I don't know anyone that posts threads so I respond largely to what's said rather than who said it. I rarely look at profiles of forum users....And I'm guilty of not reading entire threads so jumping on band wagons really ain't my thing. |

Bit old for it now, but jumping on bands tour busses led to some pretty awesome parties back in the day |

I think that my response can vary according to who the OP is, if I know they'll appreciate a fuller answer or if I know them, then I may be sarcastic. The same goes for responding to posts etc.
I don't stay away from anyone's threads per se, although I may give one a wider berth if it's a provocative or 'mates thread'.

You helped on the blocking a stalker thread the other day. That was really kind. |
