Mine came from my nan, she was a character and I miss her dearly... what she said was simple and direct "son, do what makes you happy and fuck what everyone else thinks"
...she may not have been Plato on Confucious, be she sure knew how to make an observation |

"Me mam taught me two things:
"The bigger they are the harder they fall" and
"Question authority!"
surprising as she is a real authoritarian. "
My old coach said something similar,
The bigger they are, the harder they hit you |

An uncle once offered me the sterling advice that if I'm in a nightclub at the end of the evening and I haven't pulled, chat a fatty up as they're usually quite grateful.
It didn't quite work out like he said as I was usually too pissed to care tbh. |

We may have the same uncle
Mine said "don't waste your money paying full price to go to a nightclub, you'll be buying your own drinks all night and dancing on your own... get in for free just before they shut when all the pissheads are gagging for it" |

A friend I know through an online game who I speak to on Facebook gave me some advice when I felt my life seemed surreal and fucked up at times.
He said see that as 'normal' and it's everyone else's perception of 'normal' that's fucked up. |

A little boy once said ....
Do not try to bend the spoon, that is impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth... there is no spoon.
For many years I had those last four words as my signature on other forums.... it is the best advice. |

Not direct advice, more a case of knowing exactly what someone meant with the comment,,"yeah he's nice, in fact too fickin nice",and i knew and have grown to know exactly what that means. |
