Lots of negativity floating about on Fab today, so how could we change the way fab operates, or rather...
If you were in charge, what changes would you make to the code of conduct on Fab, and what repercussions would you inflict for breaking the code.
I want people to stop moaning and start trying to affect change here on Fab and in the wider swinging world.
When I started, everyone was friendly, these days the words bigoted, entitled, drama, hassle, are all far too common place, let’s change it! |

It’s always been like that on the forums. If you choose to get involved with it. If message filters aren’t used and you get abuse for knocking back an unverified newbie what do you expect?

Fab is a cross section of society so whilst bigots, whingers and entitled people remain in the world they will remain in fab.
Unless of course you have to tick a box when registering confirming you are nine of the above.  |

I’m not sure many want to make the change.
Fab, like a lot of the world has become very tribal. People don’t want to reach outside there friends.
A lot of the negativity seen on the forums is more trying to signal to forum friends how cool they are. |

I don't see it as whinging, I see it as people having an opinion and the only "whinging" that happens is people who think everything should be sweetness and light or that everything is a joke. |

I’m sorry you’ve taken my thought so badly.
I just think people could be better towards one another, on and off of Fab. And I find it almost abhorrent when people think it’s a throw away stance to have.
If people were nicer to one another, the world would be a very very different place.
And I’m not whinging, I’m trying to get people to join a common goal, a Fab where people want to come and have fun, not open mail boxes full of shit, face abuse on the forums for having an opinion and well, are generally happier people. |

to treat others how we may wish to be treated.

I would be a very fair mod, I’m sure many have fallen foul if the double standards on Fab that exists within the current moderator caste on here.
But you’re missing my point, it’s not about everything being sugar and spice, it’s about people being decent towards one another.

As with many things these days, it’s about managing expectations.
If you’re a plumber and someone wants their kitchen done in 2 weeks, you know the floor is going to be 3 weeks and the bloke doing the tiles won’t be in any state to do them in July because he’s going on that 4 day stag weekend.

With Fab it’s not really well defined how people should interact, how they should present themselves and what the likely outcomes are. If that was more easily understood, perhaps we’d have fewer ranty threads here |

What's left to discuss if everyone here holds the same opinion? And who decides who should be punished etc. It's bad enough the way it is, without more twatty rules for ppl to abuse..... Let everyone speak and it's our own duty to be able to stand up for our beliefs and debate any idiots or we'd soon find we were living in delusional censorship and unable to understand what is actually bad about "bad"....
In the subject of twatty rules, the "rule" about not being able to use both a singles and couples account springs to mind, still never had a definitive answer on that one |

A sensible post Adam? No, I'd agree with all of this.
I think if people started with treated each other with more courtesy and respect it could remove a lot of rantiness. I like the differing opinions that are presented on the forum - I like reading a snapshot of society and its views. I don't want a dull, everyone agreeing with everyone forum - there'd not be any discussion or interesting discourse. |

Meh, much as your idea and sentiment is admirable OP and everyone should of course follow the basic tenets of life never mind Fab, the truth of the matter is people have been saying similar to what you are for centuries to no avail - people will still disagree, people will still either be largely negative or largely positive thinkers - and lets not forget that what you see as ranty or negative, may have been someome else's genuine cry for help, or looking to gather opinion.
Yes of course there are those who deliberately stir the pot, or post just to be provocative, and those who will post negative things because they're "glass half empty" types and you'll never change that - again people like that have been around for centuries, and are just part of life's rich tapestry - whether to engage with them, or seek to stir their pots in another direction etc is an individual call.
Again not arguing or putting down your sentiment, but pragmatic realist that I am, I also know you'll not change a thing |

I haven't taken anything badly!
Actually if you regularly read my posts you would know I often call out what I consider "bad attitude" or people rounding on others for having a different opinion.
My point is the forums would be dull if everything was light hearted. People can and should express different opinions.

I think there is a lot of truth in this.
I’ve been banned from the forums multiple times for trying to rally the troops into being nicer to one another, only to be told I was causing unrest, when it was a result of fake accounts and crappy messages that made me post in the first place.

"What's left to discuss if everyone here holds the same opinion? And who decides who should be punished etc. It's bad enough the way it is, without more twatty rules for ppl to abuse..... Let everyone speak and it's our own duty to be able to stand up for our beliefs and debate any idiots or we'd soon find we were living in delusional censorship and unable to understand what is actually bad about "bad"....
In the subject of twatty rules, the "rule" about not being able to use both a singles and couples account springs to mind, still never had a definitive answer on that one "
