I think the best Stones song has to be Brown Sugar.
That said, it's not my favorite Stones song. For lots of different reasons my favorite Stones song is Fool To Cry. |

"Gimme shelter closely followed by paint it black
Gimme Shelter is 50 years old (1969) stands the test of time so well..God bless Merry Clayton(ask yr parents lol).
"
The opening riff sends shivers down my spine... A wonderfully hauntly complicated set of sounds |

"Almost a 60 year period to choose from...Mick and Keef still rocking..
I think the best period is '69 thru to '72..
I will kick off with; Gimme Shelter."
Intro to Gimme Shelter is the best in the world. |

"Start Me Up...Classic opening riff along with Satisfaction and Jumping Jack Flash..Often now included in their finale material.."
Listen to the fade out of Start Me Up..you make a grown man cry followed by'You make a Dead Man Cum' ...dunno how it got by the censors back then(1980's) |

My favourite band who I’ve seen live 25 times so it’s difficult for me to list just one so I will pick a live song and a standard album track. Some of their songs are much better live than the studio versions.
So my live vote is for Miss You. It’s such a strong song and Daryl Jones really owns that song with his soaring bass lines.
My studio vote is for Tumbling Dice which epitomises the ragged glamour of their sound from their purple period.

"Wot no "Jumpin' Jack Flash"?"
Why did it take so long to get a mention??
1968 and the band return to R 'n' B. Its a gas!
Jagger screams 'one two' and your senses are assaulted!!
What else are we missing?

I love the charm of tumbling dice(aka good time woman),its casual and relaxed ..
' Women think I'm tasty always trying to waste me and make me burn the candle right down'
Jaggers/Richards such underrated songwriters.

"Wild Horses (though I could easily list another dozen or more that I love).
That is one of my favourite songs.
I love Let’s Spend The Night together too"
Oh yes ...coupled with the beautiful Ruby Tuesday a double A side.Did you know that in the states they had to change the lyrics to get by the censor, it became "Lets spend some time together" Shows how long ago that was. |

Gimme Shelter, the “extended” raw cut. Hard to find, but worth a listen. (Nearly 10 minutes of awesome) |

"Not a single vote for Get Off Of My Cloud? Wow "
The very convincing follow up to Satisfaction..Get Off Of My Cloud summed up the pill popping 60's perfectly.
I would like to put a mention in for, 2000 Light Years From Home. Psychedelic and eerie.
Jagger wrote while in jail.

"Get off of my Cloud
Miss You
19th Nervous Breakdown
She said Yeah
4 incredible songs hardly mentioned. "
i think the reason some songs hardly mentioned is the sheer diversity of stones music to be honest! so many brill tracks its hard to select 5 let alone 1 |

"I like to many to pick one, but when I saw them last year in Manchester I have to say Gimme Shelter was a goosebumps moment, and Shattered"
I’ve seen them loads of times and Sympathy, Midnight Rambler, Gimme Shelter and Miss You are always memorable live. |
