right here we go guys n gals this is the start of our book club
the book we will be reading is
'The Man Who Broke into Auschwitz' by Denis Avey
Description
THE MAN WHO BROKE INTO AUSCHWITZ is the extraordinary true story of a British soldier who marched willingly into Buna-Monowitz, the concentration camp known as Auschwitz III. In the summer of 1944, Denis Avey was being held in a POW labour camp, E715, near Auschwitz III. He had heard of the brutality meted out to the prisoners there and he was determined to witness what he could. He hatched a plan to swap places with a Jewish inmate and smuggled himself into his sector of the camp. He spent the night there on two occasions and experienced at first-hand the cruelty of a place where slave workers, had been sentenced to death through labour. Astonishingly, he survived to witness the aftermath of the Death March where thousands of prisoners were murdered by the Nazis as the Soviet Army advanced. After his own long trek right across central Europe he was repatriated to Britain. For decades he couldn't bring himself to revisit the past, but now Denis Avey feels able to tell the full story - a tale as gripping as it is moving - which offers us a unique insight into the mind of an ordinary man whose moral and physical courage are almost beyond belief.
we have 3 weeks to read it then all meet back here to discuss it once we are all done
anyone can join in with us at any point if your reading this 2 weeks in and want to join us then go grab a copy and join in you do not have to ve in on day 1 as we want this to be an all inclusive book club
all i ask is you do not spoil the book for others during the 3 weeks feel free to say if your loving it or hating it but do not put anything about the characters or plot line until the 3 weeks are up
so here we go guys
hope you all enjoy and i look forward to hearing what everyone thinks of it
i'll regularly bump the thread to keep it about for peeps to find easily |

"aw... I paid for mine
Hope I enjoy it although, it does sound a tad depressing "
Read two books, dip into a happy/comedic/up-beat one at the same time so that this one doesn't affect you too much. xxx |

I cheated, I bought the 'audio' version, so got to listen to it whilst grouting tiles and doing other little jobs. Luckily the narrator did a great job of it so I never got distracted from his words. |

If you do, I would suggest having a quick listen first online, as sometimes the voice can really ruin it for you if you don't like it |

"I want to know what's next "
that's a good point we need to come up with a way to pick the next one as we only have a week till its time to start the next one
how about if we pick genres then i'll search for 4 books in that genre and we vote again how does that sound?
we could then just work through the genres then if we are still going we can just start all over again maybe |

I like that idea; it exposes people to books they wouldnt ordinarily have read.
So are you thinking of genres like Fiction, Crime, Fantasy, Horror, Sci-fi, True Stories, Biography etc? |
