I'm really struggling today.
The firey pain is real!
I'm currently waiting for a scan and hopefully finally some kind of medication. But in the meantime, any tips for the pain/discomfort ladies?
Hot bath seems to ease it a tad but being in a shared house I can't stay in there all day, hot water bottle seems to do very little tbh.
It sucks to be a lady with lady parts sometimes |

"What does that stand for , I'm medically ignorant "
Poly cystic ovarian syndrome
Not ignorant, just a man...not something you'd need to worry about having no ovaries |

Ach; sorry to read this. It's fucking awful pain. Apart from medication (obvs), bananas can help (something to do with the potassium I think) and yoga as well - do some gentle salutations. Massaging the area can ease it as well. Also, it might be tempting to comfort eat lots of sugary things but that always makes me feel worse. |

I'm pretty good with pain, but some days it's just ridiculous and I can barely get out of bed! |

Can you get your hands on a tens machine? That helped me more than anything.
Unfortunately there's not much you can do for short term relief.
Diet changes, Healthy bmi and Birth control help long term but that doesn't help now.

I was diagnosed last year after symptoms being present for yonks! But they literally, scanned me, diagnosed me, told me to loose weight and sent me on my merry way. The past 6 months the pain has been getting worse. And I can't work out as much as I was cos I'm too much pain.
I'm hoping the next doctor I see will be able to help!
Thank you |

The Mrs had this a few years back it was horrible to see the pain she was in .
I am not sure what medication she took for it but I know coming off the pill stopped it.
So I got the snip to be on the safe side .

Managing symptoms can be a bitch, but I find keeping active reduces the pain, walking mainly.
Depending on what symptoms you are experiencing the GP should be able to advise on treatments. I have found when my BMI is within a normal range my symptoms are minimal but having PCOS and maintaining a normal BMI is fecking hard for me. After years of refusing to take meds for it since starting starting on metformin (it's used off license for PCOS) my symptoms have improved greatly and losing weight too! I should add I'm not diabetic. |

I've been a sufferer since I was 15. Though I don't suffer with pain from the actual cysts, the syndrome affects my every waking minute.
It's very easy to brush off the ' lose weight' advice from doctors as it feels like losing weight is the advice given for every ailment under the sun sometimes, but speaking from experience my single biggest piece of advice is to try your best to do it, it's too late for me, the hair loss on my head is too bad to hide now so I have a grade 0 cut and wear hats a lot.
What they don't tell you is losing weight as well as bringing your fertility back potentially, helps control the syndrome symptoms, and that the hair loss which will happen on your head is permanent!
You're pretty young but you are the age I started losing my hair.
Sorry to sound so morbid about it but for a woman losing your hair is devastating and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
But in the mean time I hope you find some relief from your pain. Xx |

I lost a lot of hair during chemo, so been there, something to look forward to eh?
My fertility isn't an issue, I don't want kids anyway it's just the pain management I need some help with. |

I feel your pain. Been suffering since my teens and had countless operations. I walk off as much pain as I can, but on the bad days I'm literally crippled and can barely move. Then it's heat patches, blanket and naproxen which usually knocks me out so I can sleep the worst off. Hope you get some answers x

It's one of those things innit, people underestimate what they can't see or feel for themselves.
Just taken some naproxen now. |

Yeah it's horrific and it's hard to find a doctor who cares.
I was diagnosed at 13 and they just shrugged, told me to go on the pill and just get used to it.
Luckily mine cleared up when I was pregnant with my first and never came back. |

I have it and was diagnosed a few years ago. Luckily I don't have any pain and just suffer with all the other symptoms. I've never been given any medication and was fobbed off with a leaflet once I was diagnosed. I have a new doctor now though, so hopefully that will improve things. |

Had PCOS for years and totally feel your pain. I was prescribed Metformin which once in the system did help a little with the pain and weight side of things. When I had an ouchy day, they just advised run of the mill medication to try and ease it. I hope you get well soon xx |

Metformin is for diabetes but is used off license in PCOS to help with the insulin resistance associated with PCOS, also help regulate periods, improved fertility and reduces hirsutism, also helps with the weight. |

I always refuse meds but since taking Metformin I feel so much better! I do admit to suffering terribly GO prone at the start but that lasted 2 weeks. |

It's been a few years now since I was on it. I litterally have given up now. Everything they tried with me didn't work for me.
Moved to Wales now so maybe they have some magic that England drs didn't lol |
