...house!

And I’m not talking about quality, price, class and all those things. I’m talking about general cleanliness. On the few times I have hosted at my house I make sure it is sparkling, nice candles on, the place smells great. The sheets are fresh and the floors hoovered.

However a meet I had a while back, the bedroom floor was so filthy that muck was sticking to my bare feet after the first tread. The carpet felt like it hosted a mix of lint and grit. And the toys atop bedside tables with clear layers of dust was quite concerning. Their profile had clear, good quality pictures where the photo locations were tidy and shining. Nothing to suggest this level or filth. There cobwebs in all the corners and a strong smell of unbrushed teeth!

So how do you lovely folks who host, prepare for a meet? And how many of you lovely folks have had a disgusting meet which (with even just the basic hygiene standards) should just not have happened??

I haven't had a y disgusting meets thankfully! If I was hosting my house would be spotless, I'd be scundered to let anyone in if it was a tip.

Every person's home we have ever been to has had a normal standard of cleanliness. The few times we've hosted, so has ours.

Not in reality but on pictures Yes I have but at the same time I am OCD when it comes to cleaning so not a lot of ppl can reach my standard of cleanliness.

Yes I am always amazed at seeing a picture with a spotless room that I have to mention it.

So many pictures with messy, dirty rooms that it makes me happy to see a clean one time to time

I did not engage in any shagging and I didn’t make them ashamed of themselves. I made a polite excuse and did not even refer to the actual reason I left. They are not on this site either.

Interesting though. Would you be up for hoovering someone else's house?

Totally! It doesn’t need to be surgically sterile (and it would be concerning if there were plastic sheets over everything!). But filth is not only a turn off but quite disconcerting.

Realising I didn’t check the state of my rooms in my pictures before creating this thread and now vetting them thoroughly!!

We're always surprised when we're viewing houses to buy and they're filthy. Years ago one place we looked at absolutely stank and the floor was thick with dog hair another had poo in the toilet in yet another we came out covered in flea bites. it's very off putting

We only meet at clubs so don't have this problem, I'd have made excuses and left.

Which is why I'll only go to a hotel. They're tidy enough for what I have planned.

Also, I don't live in a show home. I've got a tornado toddler, and 2 pets. The house is never tidy enough for the house inspectors here.

I hear ya, I'm very very fussy about who I let into my home. They need to realise I have an elderly woofa, elderly woofas generally stink and she moults so much I could fill the vacuum daily (a bit like me)

My bathroom floor has stains on it from hair dye that's missed my head.

Whole place needs work doing to it and decorating.

We have the same hair dying issues. My hair's so long I have to use loads, it gets everywhere.

Have you ever seen a camouflage shower tray.

Now that's style.

I felt bad for doing so, but yes I had to! Really couldn’t stand it.
