Seeing how some of the twats are behaving in the country this week, I think politics is a subject best kept as far away as possible from right now.

I like to discuss more serious subjects sometimes but the politics forum can be a scary and confusing place. Everything seems to end up as a bitch-fest between the same leavers and remainers.

All over the place! Northwesr, , Southwest

I've always felt that there are better venues and platforms to discuss these issues than fab.

Very much this. I do think the forum has been dumbed down as a result of the politics forum but I fully understand why the politics forum was created and it's not a part of the forum I tend to visit because it's really not fun.

The damage brexit has done on a social level in dividing society is reflected perfectly on many of the politics threads and I'm glad that they are marginalise in the forums. I think what I perceive as a dumbing down of the forums is not necessarily a bad thing

Yes the politics forums is very intelligent. Lefts calling rights racists, rights calling lefts libtards.

Very mature intelligent part of forums

Actually I disagree. Pre-brexit political debates didn't turn in to a shouting match and the cross section of people on here made for some interesting discussions away from the echo chambers many of us inevitably inhabit

I would like to see a sort of "What's in the news" forum, but not more bloody politics. There was a very sad story on the news today about a 17 year old Dutch girl who was legally euthanized at her home. I didn't want to do it as a thread because I didn't want to bum folks out, and I'm not even sure what my feelings are about it. This is why I like these forums, I get more perspectives from more people than I ever would in the outside world.

I've always seen the categories as guidelines anyway. And with some subjects there's always some cross over. And of course you'll always be scrutinised by the category police. But in general I've always seen the lounge as a place for the more light hearted and random. I'm in touch with current affairs and politics but fab is my kind of escape from the world, including our current dire political situation.

I’m glad you’ve mentioned this; I’ve been thinking about this case a lot today. I’d like (not sure like is the right word) to read her autobiography “Winning or Learning” and hear more directly from her so I can help to get my head around it further. Heartbreaking.

My preference would be to include general politics into The Lounge but then have a breakout forum for major political events like a GE, Brexit....

I don’t feel I’m suitably clued up to venture into a separate Politics forum.

We should just do that in the lounge. That is such a sad case

I haven’t seen much news today, will have to check this story outs

The Lounge would definitely benefit from more news type threads.

Literally just went into the politics forums and as predicted rights are calling left libtards

If any part of the forum is cancerous, it sure is politics

Before the politics forum it was just the same threads, with the same people, pushing the same arguments, with the same conclusion.

I could never take it seriously anyway, it’s usually a pair of tits arguing with a dick or something

They would be better in the general lounge area, rather than in a separate politics section Imo, to get broader debate. Politics affect so much of our lives, which is the most interesting area, rather than the nitty gritty political processes that we just tend to think of.

Unless we’re asking whether someone is hot or not we seem to squabble (by ‘we’ I don’t actually mean me) politics wouldn’t be any different, it would be carnage.

I don’t particularly think politics need to be covered here, there’s a forum for it already.
